Catherine L. Krumlauf, 71, of Rockbridge, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, after living with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Smithfield, North Carolina, daughter of Doris Howell Freeman of North Carolina and the late Edward Thomas Freeman. A lifelong learner, Kathy graduated from Ohio University. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, vacations on Topsail Island, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother and husband, Kathy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Krumlauf (Adam Weisberg) of Upper Arlington and Lacey (Ben) Hoffmann of Lakewood, Ohio; grandchildren, Katniss Weisberg, Alma Weisberg, Naomi Weisberg, Xander Hoffmann, James Hoffmann and Wesley Hoffmann; brothers, Howard (Penny) Freeman of Princeton, North Carolina and Edward (Tammy) Freeman Jr. of Pikeville, North Carolina; sisters, Betty Anne (Dana) Nelson of Morgan Hill, California, Diana (Don) Freeman of Princeton, North Carolina, Mona (Larry) Sears of Duvall, Washington, Carol Jean Freeman of Princeton, North Carolina and Judy (Gary) Shirley of Wilson, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

To the family of Cathy,
My deepest sympathies go out to you all. Cathy was such an extraordinary person, and she will never be forgotten. She and I were colleagues in the healthcare PR world, she in Logan and I in Nelsonville for 18 years. Her mentorship and wealth of knowledge was invaluable to so many lives here in the Hocking Valley. Her talents have led the charge for so many healthcare & community projects that will touch lives for many years to come. Cathy truly was an angel on earth. God bless you all, grace and peace.
Respectfully,
Crystal Howard

My heart is sad as I think about my friend, Kathy.... we have been friends for years.. so many times working with the HVCH Auxiliary and our Twig 4. We were pregnant together in 1976 and our kids graduated together in 1994. The time has passed quickly and I had moved away. Prayers and love to her family. She will be missed by so many. God Bless You All...
