Stephen D. Fitzpatrick

Stephen Douglas Fitzpatrick, age 63, of Logan, Ohio died July 24, 2025 following a brief, hard-fought cancer battle.

Born Oct. 23, 1961 to B. Elbert and Barbara (Hayman) Fitzpatrick, Steve graduated from Lancaster High School, Class of 1979 and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Steve was associated many years with The Window Man of Lancaster. First as an employee and then as owner until his retirement in January 2025. He was well known for his hard work, honesty and craftsmanship.

Always one to do things 'by the book,' if Steve built you something, rest assured it had a couple (or five) extra screws and he had announced, "That's not going anywhere!".

His happiest days were spent at his house on the Ohio River - on his boat with the sun on his face, the wind in his hair and his family by his side.

Steve is survived by his parents, Barb and Elbert; wife and high school sweetheart of 43 years, Brenda (Engle) Fitzpatrick; son Brad (Amber) Fitzpatrick of York, SC and daughter Brittany (Brian) Metzler of Logan; seven grandchildren: Ashlynne, Noah, Cam Fitzpatrick, Taylor, Bentley, Jayson, and Elliana Metzler; sisters Cathy (David) Bitler and Linda Fitzpatrick; mother-in-law Beve Engle; sister-in-law Rhonda (Bill) Glenn; and special niece and nephew Rachel (Miguel) Lopez and Abe Starner.

Preceded in death by father-in-law Ron Engle and best friend Mark Starner.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 4-8 p.m., and an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster.
