ALBERT ATTISANI Obituary

Albert A. Attisani of Scarsdale, NY died on February 11, 2006, after a long illness. He was born in New Rochelle in 1928 the son of the late Charles Attisani and Stella Barbieri. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Gondiosa), his beloved children, Della and David, and loving grandchildren, Clayre, Christopher and Ellie. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Al served in the Navy aboard a minesweeper, U.S.S Wheatear. He was a graduate of Iona College and Columbia University. Al received his reading certification from New York University. He was a consummate Teacher who taught remedial and diagnostic reading to Teachers at Iona College and St. Thomas Aquinas. Al also was a Reading and E.S.L Teacher in the New Rochelle School System. He believed that every child was a gift from God and it was every teacher's calling to find a child's particular gift. He used his proficiency in photography, magic and cartooning as tools in teaching and promoting language and reading. Al was a Cartoon Editor in minor markets and wrote for Spoken Arts. A Funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale.
