ANDRE DEGLON Obituary

Andre Deglon, born October 26, 1916 in Lausanne, Switzerland, died Tuesday evening September 18, 2001 surrounded by his family. A resident of Ossining, Andre lived and worked in the region for over 50 years. Andre graduated from MIT with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force as a pilot during World War II achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was the owner of Denimex Development Corp., an import export business in Briarcliff for over 50 years. Andre wholeheartedly loved his work and actively enjoyed his dealings with friends and business partners around the world. Andre was generous and kind of spirit. He embraced all of life with passion, loving good food and wine, people, and children. He believed that life presented challenges, not problems. He took great pleasure in travel, gardening, photography, music, fishing and exploring. A remarkable, eternally optimistic man who was an inspiration to all. "Papa" you will be deeply missed - it is an honor to have known you. He is survived by his wife Ruth, three daughters, Nina, Debra and Cherie; granddaughter Candice and son-in-law Fred. He also leaves a brother Georges, sister Mireille, nephews Jean Fancois and Philippe and a niece Beatrice all residing in Switzerland. His burial was private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Ste 1100, Chicago, IL 60611.
