His life-long love of basketball continued in college at Onienta, Boston College and the University of Massachusetts. He came back to coach at both Our Lady of Sorrows and Stepinac, continuing a family tradition that began with his father and continues today with brothers Robert and Tim.

Brendan is survived by his mother Dorothy O'Toole, his brothers Robert (wife Kim) of White Plains, Tim (wife Joanie) of Rye and sisters Dory of Manhattan Beach California, Lizanne (husband Louis McIntyre)of White Plains and Tiffany (husband Doug Flaherty) of Rye. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews who loved him a great deal. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas, father and niece Fallon McIntyre.

Brendan was active in the Pedicab industry in New York City and was the President of Brendan O'Toole Pedicab Co. at the time of his death. He was the founder and President of NYPN, a Pedicab advocacy group in New York City.

Brendan was a sports enthusiast and advocate for children everywhere. He lived life to the fullest and embraced every day as a gift.

To the O'Toole Family-
I knew Brendan from the caddie yard at Winged Foot. Many an afternoon were spent talking about the culture of the day. Golf, basketball, religion, politics,in the mid to late 90's. His advice was cherished as well as his memory. Brendan, till we putt again, Gods speed. RIP

To the O'Toole Family,
As a friend & schoolmate of Robert and a frequent visitor to the O'Toole home in the '60's and '70's, I remember Brendan as the out-going, gentleman athlete. We was a role model to follow, thankfully. My sincerest condolences to the O'Toole family.

Brendan was two years ahead of me at Stepinac and started on the great basketball teams at Stepinac during the mid 70's.
I always looked up to him which wasn't difficult because he was always very kind and nice to everyone. He was friends and classmates with my brother Michael B Finn who recently passed on as well. I will hit my knees and say a prayer for Brendan tonight, God Bless him now and always!

Brendan was the first guy I met when I moved to WP in 1966, and was the best friend you could ever imagine, especially as the new kid in town. And through him, I met a wonderful family that changed my life. And those great hoop games went on and on... Peace Brendan and OTs.

Brendan was the hardest-working person I know -- and I know a lot of hard-working people. He was extremely passionate about pedicab driving and our city. New York was a better place with him in it. My condolences to his family.
