Catherine Durkin Obituary
Brewster - Catherine Gertrude Durkin, age 98, a lifelong resident of Brewster, NY, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Purdys, NY.
Gert was born on April 25, 1919 in Brewster, NY to Michael Joseph and Catherine Cecelia (Farrell) Durkin. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1937.
Gert was an Accounting Clerk with the Putnam County Savings Bank in Brewster, NY for 25 years retiring December 31, 1998.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Gert was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court Bernadine in Brewster. Through the years, Gert enjoyed travel to such destinations as Bermuda, Ireland & Italy.
Gert is survived by her nieces and nephews, Dorothy Eastwood of Brewster, NY, Jeanette Hatley of Fresno, CA, David Durkin of Rensselaer, NY and Edward Durkin of Sandy Hook, CT. She was also survived by 13 great and 18 great great nieces and nephews. Gert was pre-deceased by her brother and sister-in-law, William J. and Alma Durkin, her brother Thomas Durkin and her nephew William J. Durkin Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 11, 2017 10:00am at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Brewster. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Sunday from 2 to 6pm. www.Beecherfuneralhome.com
