CHRISTOPHER MCDONOUGH Obituary
Christopher Raymond McDonough, darling son, cherished brother, and beloved grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, died in a car accident on August 21, 2006, well before his time at age 17. Known as "Chrissy Cakes" and "Chrissy Lou" to his mother, brother, and sister, all who knew him adored Chris for his tremendous heart, unique sense of humor, brilliant mind, and shy nature. He exhibited a talent and passion for everything he did. Chris was born in St Johnsbury, Vermont, and moved to Croton when he was seven. As a child, Chris skied and played tennis and soccer. More recently, Chris was an integral member of the CHHS Varsity Lacrosse team and ran cross-country. He also co-founded the International Club at his school. Chris loved photography, cinema and playing cards and games with his family and friends. By age 16, Chris held his family's Scrabble champion title, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. Chris often could be found watching movies or playing Lacrosse with his brother David. His twin sister Megan and he enjoyed an especially close relationship. Most of the time they were inseparable. This summer, Chris worked as an intern for the Creative Vice President of King Features Syndicate in New York City. While there he touched everyone he met and made a lasting impression in a very brief time. He had also started training for cross country, promising his coach to win states this year. Chris and his family had just returned from a vacation in the San Juan Islands where they spent a week hiking, kayaking, whale-watching, eating wild blackberries off the bush, and over-indulging in fish and chips and clam chowder. Chris is survived by his mother Michele, older brother David, twin sister Megan, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his father, Patrick McDonough of Brooklyn, New York. Chris' loving presence will remain with his family and friends forever. Please join family and friends in honoring Chris' life at a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 24, 2006 in Croton Point Park (Pavilion 2) at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Croton-Harmon School District (Christopher McDonough Scholarship Fund in memo line), and sent to the Croton-Harmon School District offices at 10 Gerstein Place, Croton, New York 10520.
