David Nierenberg Obituary

Nierenberg, David Charles

David Charles Nierenberg died peacefully at home on July 14 at the age of 73 after a courageous, 6 year battle with brain cancer. David had a jovial nature and a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family of 3 children, Hilary Nierenberg, Bradley Nierenberg and Kimberly Josephson, 6 grandchildren Rachel, Ryan, Amanda, Julia, Avery and Rhett.as well as two stepdaughters Kim Donohue and Jennifer Louw and 5 step-grandchildren Griffin, Walker, Finn, Emily and Julia, his brother Marvin and sister-in-law Judy. David was predeceased by his wife Dee in January 2012.

One of his greatest satisfactions was attending his grandchildren's athletic events. David owned and showed American Saddlebred horses, an interest he shared with his wife, Dee. David was an excellent golfer and when he could no longer play, he watched professional matches on TV.

Over the last few years he was cared for lovingly by Michael Frimpong who is dear to the Nierenberg family. Michael will adopt David's dog, Sophie.

A graduate of Woodmere Academy and Brown University, he received his MBA from Columbia University. Early in his career he worked for the Olivetti Corporation and subsequently for Ben Nierenberg Inc., The Success Motivation Institute and the Guardian Life Insurance Company. Over the years he had many dear friends and he maintained a regular poker game until recently.

David resided for many years in Briarcliff and Ossining, New York. An active member and officer of B'nai Brith, he was honored by the organization on many occasions.

Funeral will be at Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home of Briarcliff Manor, 1300 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York 10510 (914-941-1600) on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:30 am.
