Edward B. Shuart, Jr. "Shuby" passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was 71 years old. The son of the late Edward B. Shuart, Sr. and the late Eva Hosch Shuart, he was born April 6, 1945 in Nyack, NY.

Edward retired from Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. after 40 years of service. He was an Overhead Electric High Voltage Line Chief, in West Nyack, NY. Ed was a member of BPOE #877 of Haverstraw, a member of VFW Post #8858 in Harriman, and American Legion Post #1573, Harriman. He was a member and past Chairman of the Executive Board of IBEW Local 503. Ed was Chairman of the Harriman Historical Committee and a former member of Harriman Parks and Recreation Committee, and the Harriman Zoning Board of Appeals. For the past 16 years he was Trustee for the Village of Harriman and appointed as Deputy Mayor of Harriman for the past 15 years.

Ed loved animals, enjoyed nature, the outdoors and traveling. He loved his family above all and always took care of others' needs before his own. He enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. Edward was a Veteran of the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Sergeant. He served his country in the Vietnam War as a Platoon Leader in the Americal Division, 11th Light Infantry Brigade, Jungle Warriors, Alpha Company, 4th Battalion 3rd Infantry (Old Guard) and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jo-Ann (Villa) Shuart, at home, and his son, Edward B. Shuart, III of Harriman, NY. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Villa, brothers-in-law Edward Villa, John Villa, his sister-in law Colleen Farrell and brother-in-law Matthew Connolly and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters: Marilyn Connolly and Joan Shuart, and his nephews: Mark Connolly and Anthony Villa.
