EDWARD TORRESEN Obituary

Edward R. Torresen, 68, of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ died on Wednesday June 4, 2003 at the Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick, NJ. Mr. Torresen was the Captain of Engine Company 22 of the New York City Fire Department before retiring in 1990. Prior to his 28 years of service as a NY City Fireman, he worked for NY Bell Telephone in New York City for many years. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean War from 1952-1956. Mr. Torresen also taught at the Fire Academy in Randall's Island, NY for five years. He was an avid sailor and golfer and loved to bike, skate and kayak. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Rockland County, NY for 27 years before moving to Pt. Pleasant Beach five years ago. Surviving is his loving wife of 35 years Eleanor A. (Werbalis) Torresen, two daughters Kirsten V. Torresen, Leonora A. Torresen, both of Brick, NY, a sister Elizabeth Pedersen of Clinton Corners, NY and two nephews Warren Pedersen of New York and Kenneth Pedersen of Clinton Corners, NY. Visiting will be on Saturday from 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 1-5 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, Hwy 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, NJ. The service will be held on Monday 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07701.
