FRED SORENSON Obituary

Fred A. Sorenson, Sr., a longtime Croton resident, died Friday at his home. He was 75. He was born in Portland, ME on March 26, 1924, the son of Andrew J. and Florence E. Chambers Sorenson. Mr. Sorenson was an Electrical Engineer for New York Telephone in White Plains, retiring in 1984 after 36 years. He was a member of New York Telephone Pioneers. His family said that he enjoyed boating and creating things with his hands. Survivors include his wife, the former Myrtle Alford of Croton, a son, Fred A. Sorenson, Jr. of Croton, three daughters, Noreen A. Walsh of Croton, Karen L. O'Riley and June M. Jenney, both of Wappingers Falls, a brother, Floyd Sorenson of Maryland, three sisters, Althea Dorsey of Maryland, Melinda Hilliard of Connecticut and Christina Ritz of Cortlandt Manor; also ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Buhl and a granddaughter, Jennifer Jenney. There will be a Funeral Service on Monday at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home, where friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Interment will be in Kensico Cemetery.
