GEORGE ALLEN Obituary

ALLEN, DR. GEORGE R. Dr. George R. Allen passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005. He was 75. Dr. Allen was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 9, 1929 and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1953 where he earned a Doctorate in Organic Chemistry. He then began a career with Lederle Labs, Medical Research Div., (Div. of American Cyanamid) working at their Pearl River facility until 1994 when he retired as Asst. to the VP of Pre Clinical Development. He worked extensively in Research and Development of various pharmaceuticals where he authored over 50 research publications. He also holds over 40 U.S. Patents for his research work in steroids, prostaglandin's and antibiotics. George and Evelyn formerly resided for almost 40 years in Old Tappan, NJ where he served on the Board of Education. They relocated to East Stroudsburg, PA in 1998. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Feudale Allen. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Dr. Allen is also survived by a son George R. Allen, III of Gulfport, FL and a daughter Janet Lynn Rossi of Newburgh, NY; and four granddaughters Kerry Ann Moynihan, Courtney Lynn Moynihan, Megan Kate Moynihan and Margaret Rose Moynihan of Newburgh, NY. Also surviving is a brother, Rev. John Dale Allen and his wife Joan Allen of Borrego Springs, CA, and a 91 year old aunt Lillian Richard of Port Arthur, TX. Funeral services to be held Friday, June 24, 2005 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ, (201)6640292. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to: VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
