GEORGE J. SPINAK

1928 - 2007 Prominent Rockland County physician, Dr. George Spinak, passed away after a long illness, at his home in New City, on Wednesday, October 17 at the age of 79. Born in Warsaw, Poland, April 2, 1928 to Dr. Adolf and Felicja (Manblit) Szpinak. Dr. Spinak, who was a Holocaust Survivor, graduated medical school in Lodz, Poland and became the youngest adjunct professor in Academy of Medicine. He received a PHD in medicine and pubished a book on kidney disease. He was a teacher, research and practitioner who published numerous medical articles and lectured for the medical profession. Dr. Spinak arrived in the United States in 1967 and began his medical career in the Bronx Lebanon Hospital. He opened his private practice in Pearl River, New York in 1975 thus beginning his long successful career in Rockland County. Dr. Spinak retired in 1999 despite the protests of his many patients and staff members. Dr. "George" is survived by his wife, Dr. Maria Spinak; two sons, Dr. Andrew Spinak and his wife Sandra, Robert Spinak, Esq. and his wife, Jill; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, Jack and Arielle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marc and Sonia Palkes, many nieces, nephews cousins and a wide circle of friends. The Service will be held at Temple Beth El, Spring Valley, NY, on Friday, October 19, at 11 am. Shiva will be at the home of Dr. Maria Spinak on the following Saturday evening and Sunday.
