HARRY MCCLELLAND Obituary

Harry McClelland of Hammondsport, NY, died February 20, 2000, at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Urbana, NY. He was 73. Mr. McClelland was a printer for Hagelstein Brothers, Inc. in NYC for 35 years. He also worked grounds keeping position in Westchester Co. He was born April 8, 1926 in Mt Vernon to William A. and Kate Hagelstein McClelland, where he was raised in New Rochelle. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry #328 during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart. On April 11, 1953 he married Mayfred G. Sherman at the Methodist Church of Yonkers. Before that he lived in the Peekskill area for 35 years. He was a member of the Citizens Hose Co. in Hammondsport. He was formerly active with the United Methodist Church of Peekslill where he served on the Administrative Board and the Ushers and was a former member of the Cortlandt Hook and Ladder Co.in Peekskill. He was an outdoorsman, his hobbies were hunting and gardening. Mr. McClelland is survived by his wife, Mayfred G. McClelland of Hammondsport, a daughter and son-in- law; Gretchen and Gregory Gale of Cortlandt Manor; a son and daughter-in-law Harry and Myriam McClelland Jr. of Verplanck; a brother and sister-in-law William and Eleanor McClelland of Kutztown, PA; a brother, Donald McClelland of Fredericksburg, VA; a grandson, James McClelland Gale of Cortlandt Manor; a niece, Kathryn Wallace of Lilburn, GA; a nephew, Philip Vorsatz of Decatur, GA. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Vorsatz. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home. The Funeral will be held at 11am Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Peekskill. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME 313 NO. James St. Peekskill
