Dear Posner family,
I am terribly saddened to read, on the Internet, of Jims passing in 2012. He and I were best friends from the ages eight to twelve. This may sound peculiar but its been said that your friends at that age are the best friends you will ever have. Over the years Ive shared many, many stories about my life on Vine Road, Glen Eagles Drive and the Murray Avenue School with my children. Im certain that there are countless stories of Jims life as a school boy have never been heard. For instance, when we were eleven we put on our own, nameless, stage production at Murray. He was the hero and the star of that way-far-off Broadway extravaganza. Jimmy ( Posey) and I were also two thirds of a vocal trio, with Jay Wilson being the third member. We always performed in front of an adoring audience at school. Sadly our musical career was not to be. Our fan base vanished because we only knew one song: Ive Been Working On The Railroad. Suddenly my world changed when, in the middle of the sixth grade, my family moved from Larchmont to the Main Line Philadelphia. I was devastated. A golden era of my life had ended. Jim and I saw each other just twice after that. Both times at his home on Vine Road. The last time was the summer of nineteen sixty-five... only yesterday.
Clearly, Jim was an extraordinary man beloved and admired by everyone who knew him. It must seem strange, however, that someone in his early eighties would suddenly show up with vivid and beautiful memories of this gifted man as a school boy. Happily. I could go on and on.with many more stories. He has never been forgotten. Jim made a difference. All in Jim Posners world have been truly blessed.
Sincerely yours and with best wishes,
Bill Farrell
