Joseph Pastore Obituary
Briarcliff - Dr. Joseph M. Pastore, Jr., a resident of Briarcliff, died on May 13, 2019. He held a B.A. from St. Bonaventure University, an M.B.A. from Pace University, and a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University. In 2011 and 2012, Pace University and Siena College, respectively, awarded him honorary degrees. A prominent educator, Dr. Pastore held tenured faculty and senior administration positions at St. Bonaventure University, Pace University, and Boston College for more than four decades.
Dr. Pastore was born in Harrison on December 1, 1941 to Joseph M. Pastore and Frances Pastore. He is survived by his wife, Pattie, his three adult children, Joe (Donna), Meredith (Lincoln) and Tim (DeAnna), eight grandchildren (William, Kirsten, Joey, Jamie, Annie, Jillian, Riley and Timmy), and his brother, Robert Pastore (Roxanne).
Reposing. Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 3 to 8 PM at Waterbury & Kelly. Funeral on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Theresa's. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. I remember Joe meeting with me in 1985 as a new Pace University faculty member. We sat in the board room at One Pace Plaza and Joe made me feel as if I were the most important person in the room.
He was truly a gentleman and a scholar. His sense of respect and decency, his ethical standards, and his compassion made him an extraordinary human being.
He will be missed.
