Laurel Borowick Obituary

Borowick, Laurel

Laurel Borowick, loving wife of the late Howard Borowick and devoted mother, who touched the lives of everyone she met, was in her home and surrounded by her family when she passed away on December 6, 2014. Laurel lived her life to the fullest, with grace and a sense of humor, despite having cancer for many years. Among her many amazing traits, Laurel will be remembered most for her selflessness, kindness, and authentic spirit. Laurel is survived by her mother, Marion, her brother, Teddy, her three children, Jessica, Nancy, and Matthew, and her sons in law, Paul and Kyle.

Laurel was born in Manhattan on March 12, 1955 to Marion and Eugene Turk. She received her bachelor's degree from SUNY Binghamton and law degree from St. John's University. Laurel worked for several years in the Bronx District Attorney's Office before moving to private practice. Laurel was active in her community, including enthusiastically dedicating her time to the Westchester Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.

Services will be held at 11am on Monday, December 8 at Temple Bet Torah in Mt. Kisco. The family will be sitting shiva in their home in Chappaqua on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings.

I knew Laurel Kennedy high school although we weren´t friends we took an SAT prep course together..although it was as a horribly boring subject matter her sense of humor made it enjoyable ..I always looked forward to her big smile when we passed in her he school hallway ..

Although we met Laurel for a brief moment, she and her loving family touched our lives. In a few precious moments on a December evening in 2014, we were privileged to bring music to Laurel– music she loved to make, music she delighted in sharing with others throughout her life. As we sang, her children, sons-in-law, and mother joined in. Together, through tears and laughter, we played, sang, and celebrated Laurel's life. It was, truly, a moment of love. Laurel Borowick, may your song, spirit, and legacy live forever. Rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Lisa Sandagata, Tina Brescia, and Peter Davis: The Music Conservatory of Westchester, Music Therapy Institute.
