Stein, Martin Frederick (Fritz), Jr. M.D.

Martin Frederick (Fritz) Stein Jr. M.D. of Bronxville, NY, died November 11, 2013 after a sudden stroke. He was 77 years old. He grew up on Long Island in Manhasset, NY but has been a resident of Bronxville for 40 years. A graduate of Columbia University, he received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1962. He devoted his career to the care of patients with kidney disease and served as Medical Director of St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, NY. He also took great pride in his military career as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Some of his many accomplishments include being a founder of the Southern Westchester Dialysis Center in Yonkers, NY and serving several tours of duty with the U.S. Army at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany attending wounded soldiers. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and humanitarian. He is preceded in death by his wife Sheila S. Stein and survived by his sister, Gayle Bishop of Texas, 6 children and 14 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 16th at 11am at the Reformed Church of Bronxville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorsproject.org or the Alzheimer's Association of Hudson Valley at 2900 Westchester Avenue, Suite 306, Purchase, NY 10577-2552.
