Mary Semrai Obituary

Mary (Mae) Semrai (nee Dennehy) of Yonkers died on Sunday, April 9, 2000 at age 75. Born on July 20, 1924 to Joseph and Molly (Colhessy) Dennehy in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Blessed Sacrament High School. Mrs. Semrai worked for Blessed Sacrament Monastery for many years as both Home Care and Cleaning for the nuns. On November 18, 1950, she married Joseph W. Semrai in St. Joseph's Church; he died March 16, 1980. Mae was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, loved her walks up and down Lake Avenue, her bus trips to Atlantic City and will be missed by the store owners on Lake Avenue, especially her special friend Roe Horney. Mrs. Semrai is survived by her three daughters, Joann Blasetti of Cape Coral, FL, Mary Ellen McDermott and Nancy Burke, both of Yonkers, and her son William of Bayside, L.I. She was predeceased by her other son Joseph, who died in 1991. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and was predeceased by her sister Josephine Campana and brothers Michael and William Dennehy. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, April 13th at 10:30 am.
