Michael Mackay Obituary
Michael Mackay, 27, of Selden, Long Island, NY, passed away Thursday, November 9th, 2017. Michael attended Lakeland School District and the University of Delaware. He loved sports and played lacrosse in high school and college and competed in USSA alpine ski races throughout his academic career. He was a salesman in the home construction services industry. Michael was kind and loving to all who knew him. He also suffered from addiction, a disease he struggled with for many years. While he was unable to overcome that battle, he was quick to lend a hand to others who were struggling with the disease. He is survived by his parents, Lisa and Skip of Shrub Oak, his brother, Connor, his maternal grandparents, Donald Peters of Yorktown, NY, and Debbie Bodnar of Poughkeepsie, NY, his paternal grandmother Hannah Mackay of Lake Worth, FL and his aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 E. Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588. 914.962.0700. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Christopher's Inn, Inc Graymoor 21 Franciscan Way Garrison, NY 10524 in memory of Michael.

I read with sorrow the article in The Journal News about the loss of your son. I worked with you at MBIA in the 1990's and remember your telling me stories about your boys when they were small. Mackey family & relatives. So very sorry to hear of Michael's passing. We all know it was way to soon to leave us all. But he has left a life time of long lasting memories in a very short time. So the memories are his gift to us all. As life goes on for us all now at such a difficult time . Rest a sure there is a very special proud Grandfather Harry with him now.
