Michael P. Moran

New City - Michael P. Moran of New City, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 27, 2018. He was born to the late Jack and Alice Moran on June 16, 1952 in BallyBunion, Co. Kerry Ireland. Michael (Mike) immigrated to the United States in 1971 and lived in the Bronx, NY. On Saint Patrick's Day 1975 he met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kathy) Shannon. They lived and raised their two children in New City, NY. Mike is survived by his devoted wife Kathy, and his two children Deirdre Costello and her husband Joseph of Ridgewood NJ, and John Moran and wife Alissa of West Nyack, NY. Mike is also survived by five loving grandchildren: Declan, Claire, Gavin, Liam and Carter. Mike enjoyed a good chat and a great craic with people and making fun memories with his many friends. He and Kathy loved their weekends with friends in East Durham, NY and picnics in Flushing Meadow Park, when their kids were young. In New City, he enjoyed hosting Saint Patrick Day parties, Summer BBQ's, playing with his grandchildren in his pool, Yankee game tailgates, visiting family in Boston, MA and taking family vacations, especially to Cape Cod, MA. His greatest joy was visiting his family in Ireland and staying with is dear sister Eilish and her husband Con. He always felt grateful to spend time with his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews over the years, and enjoyed attending Kerry Gaelic Football matches with his two brothers Sean and Tomas. Mike was also involved in the Clarkstown community through the ClarkstownSoccer Club for over 30 years. He was a parent, coach and coordinator over the years and loved giving to the children of hisClarkstown community. "Buddy's" grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who was loved and cherished by so many. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 30thfrom 2-4 & 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31st at 10am at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, 36 Route 59A, Nanuet, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association and the American Heart Association.
