Ramundo, Nicholas

Nicholas Ramundo, 22, passed away suddenly on March 27, 2015. He was an exceptional young man who loved life to the fullest. His smile was contagious, his heart genuine and everyone he met became his best friend. Nicholas spent 15 of his summers at his favorite place in the sun, Camp Venture. He attended North Rockland HS and was very involved in their Drama Department. He went on to graduate from Siena College where he served as a Bonner. During that time he was fortunate enough to spend a semester abroad in South Africa and completed a Bonner service assignment in Bolivia. As an AmeriCorps VISTA he was currently serving at the Shriver Center at UMBC running an after school program for middle school students in the Baltimore area. He loved fully and cared deeply, never wasting an opportunity to connect with another.

Nicholas is survived by his twin sister Elizabeth, his mother Marie and her fiancé Michael, his father Robert and his partner Sharon, and his "Ducky" Georgie. Nicholas also leaves behind his grandparents Raymond and Catherine Hoffmann and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1 from 3-8pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nicholas' name to the Camp Venture Foundation, 25 Smith St. Suite 510, Nanuet, NY 10954.

I met Nick during our first few days at Siena at Freshman orientation. I had absolutely no idea where a room was that I was supposed to be in. We both laughed when we realized we were both totally lost. From then on we would see each other on campus frequently. We were in some of the same classes over the years, clubs and ran into each other every now and then. One year, coincidentally, he was Mickey Mouse and I was Minnie for Halloween. We wound up in the same cab while going out and he looked over my shoulder and did a perfect impression of Mickey's laugh. Everyone immediately cracked up. Nick had such a contagious laugh and could make anyone smile with his amusing personality. He was always having a good time and making sure everyone else around him was too. I'm so sad to hear he is gone and send my sincere condolences to his family and closest friends. Siena Class of 2014 has faced a serious loss--gone but never forgotten. Rest easy Nick.

I am still in shock over nicks passing. I was a teacher at NGES and nick was the first student to acknowledge my special needs kids and really be a true friend to them all despite their disabilities. He was an exceptional person with the kindest heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
