It is with fond memories that I think about all of the years we have known each other and the different hats that we have worn together: Coach Fitzpatrick my assistant football coach in the early 90’s, Pete the teacher/colleague, Mr. Fitzpatrick the Dean of Students and always Fitz, my true friend. I remember all of the days spent breaking down football films, discussing student’s needs in the building, holding mediation between students and parents in conflict, talking about our hobbies, interests and boasting about our kids. Not to mention the weddings, proms, dances, parties, dinners… Whichever hat we had on that day, I remember you always wore it with integrity, grace and respect. I feel like I lost a family member, not just a coworker but a brother. With God speed my brother, love always…
Forever Occupied
By:Robert J. Woods
There is an empty space in the office next door
No one sitting at the desk, no one talking on the phone
I listen through my walls, I hear no calls
There is an empty space in the office next door
I can see the emptiness but I can’t feel it
That office will never be empty to me
No empty space in the office next door
Forever occupied, I am sure
No empty space in the office next door
Our condolences and deepest sympathies to the Fitzpatrick family and friends from The Woods family

I hadn't seen Peter in 20 or so years, but hearing the news is truly heart breaking. I, as many others have stated, remember Peter for being a genuine and fun loving fella. I hope and pray for the family and find comfort myself knowing that he will live eternally with the Lord.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was a kind, laid back and well-respected member of the Ramapo High School faculty. I feel like I've known him all my life as he worked in the office right next door to my father Mr. Woods, who is also a dean and teacher at Ramapo. It was easy to see why he was a favorite among students and teachers alike. He will be missed.
On behalf of the Woods family, our prayers go out to all those feeling the pain of this terrible loss and we send our condolences to the Fitzpatrick family.

I had the honor & privilege of being one of Mr. Fitzpatrick's students my senior year (class of 2008). Not only was Fitz a great educator, but a great person overall - a good role model. He was a man of honesty and integrity, and part of his work was instilling those values in his students. The impact he's had on students will surely last, and he will not be forgotten. RIP Fitz!

This is truly a great loss to the world. Few teachers can get through to students the way this man could. He actually cared about us as students and as people. His concern for us in and out of class is ingrained on us all. 10 years after graduation we still all think of him and mention his name from time to time. I cried all afternoon when I heard this news. I hope his family and friends are consoled knowing he is remembered fondly and respected by so many.
