PETER PAUL PECORA

Peter Paul Pecora, age 84, a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT and Yonkers, died on March 10, 2010 after a courageous multi-month battle following hip surgery. Peter was born in Yonkers on November 4, 1925 to the late Michael and Luisa DeVita Pecora. Peter married his college sweetheart, Nancy Hall in Pittsburgh, PA on July 1, 1951. Nancy predeceased him in July, 1998. Peter was the loving father of Nanette of Danbury, CT; Michael of Easton, CT, Claire of New Albany, OH; and Beth of Carmel, NY and loving father-in-law of Thomas Bouck (Nanette), Gail (Heid) Pecora, Tim Briscoe (Claire) and Kevin Kwechin (Beth). He was also the beloved grandfather (Pappa) of Jessica and Peter Pecora, Nancy Briscoe, and Alex and Mia Kwechin; and fond uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was the loving brother of Tulia (Tom) Ricci, Philomena (the late Robert) Beardsley, Louise (Harry) Williams and David (Dorothy) Pecora. Peter received his BS in Chemistry from Bethany College, West VA in 1950 and worked in the insurance industry for several years before joining his father in the family business, Pecora's Wines and Liquors, a 50 year institution in downtown Yonkers. Peter was one of Yonkers' most prominent businessmen, and contributor to many charities and civic activities over his many years. He was also an amateur artist of oil and charcoal works, an antiques collector, a savvy investor and scrabble enthusiast. Peter and Nancy retired to their home on beautiful Fairfield Beach, in the late 1980's. Pete's warm smile and quick wit will be remembered by all who knew him. He enjoyed gardening, sunsets at the beach, trips to the casino with his bus buddies, and spending time with his friends and family. Friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. at the SHAUGHNESSEY BANKS FUNERAL HOME, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield.
