Richard D. Finucane, M.D., 86, of Naples, died Friday, June 14, 2013. Formerly of Tarrytown, NY, he had been a Naples resident since 2002. He was born December 24, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Daniel and Kathryn (née Naumer) Finucane. A graduate of Georgetown University, Richard was an Internist in private practice and Director of Medicine at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown, NY. He joined General Foods Corporation and served as VP and Director of Medicine prior to his retirement. Dr. Finucane is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois (née Aubrey) Finucane; his beloved children, Kathy Hoogewerff of Glastonbury, CT, Amy (Andrew) Kuperman of Naples, FL, Jane (David) Tomick of Cary, NC, Dan (Stephanie) Finucane of Cary, NC, David Finucane (Valerie Courreges) of Durham, NC and Eileen (Casey) Slamin of Brooklyn, NY; his devoted sister, Ann (the late Herbert) McDade of Boynton Beach, FL; and twelve cherished grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home (239) 992-4982.

Lois, Please accept my sincere sympathy on Richard's death. I met him first in 2005 and we have had many conversations since then. He left private practice to have more time with you and family, that is the conversation I remember the best.

I remember Dr. Finucane from my years at GF as a kind and helpful person. My sister Frances who passed away 9 years ago, worked for Herb McDade and I also send my condolences to his wife on the loss of her brother.
