Tanya Dutta

Scarsdale - Tanya Dutta, M.D., 45, loving wife of Neville Bamji, M.D., and mother of Tara and Jayden, passed away on May 31, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on March 3, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois to Tamisra and Dipak Dutta. Tanya, a successful cardiologist, graduated first in her class at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois and subsequently attended Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude in Biology (A.B., A.M.) and served as Associate Editorial Chair of the Harvard Crimson. She received her medical degree from Cornell University, and subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital where she received the Joseph G. Hayes Senior Resident Teaching Award. After completing a Cardiology Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, Tanya completed a Fellowship in Cardiac MR and Cardiac CT at St. Francis Hospital. Most recently, she was a non-invasive cardiologist and Director of Echocardiography with Westchester Medical Center. Tanya also co-authored numerous studies that have been published in various peer-reviewed journals. Tanya always shared kindness and compassion, and she welcomed everyone into her heart. She was an avid reader who adored books with a special interest in classic fiction. Her memory and example will fill our hearts forever. Dr. Dutta was my cardiologist for 9 years and my friend! Her kindness and compassion were only overshadowed by her incredible ability to connect with her patients and care for them. I am heartbroken over her passing. My deepest condolences to Tanya's family, friends and co-workers at WMC and all of the medical institutions that she worked and served in. Rest In Peace Dr. D. I will miss you terribly!

My son and I were her patient but she treated us as a friend. I'm sorry just doesn't seem enough. There are no words to ease you pain right now. In time may the memories of her bring you some comfort. She would talk to me about her children, her husband, her parents in Chicago, always with a gleam in her eye and such love in her voice. There will always be an emptiness in your heart, but know that she is all always will be with you, looking over you, guiding her children, and shining her love upon you. Take comfort in her wonderful memories. She was the example of what we want every physician to be. Jonathan and I will miss her deeply. She was so much more than our cardiologist.
With thoughts and sympathy,
Chris Piucci
