Barbara Dameron Obituary

Barbara Louise Dameron

1935 - 2025

Barbara Louise Dameron, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Barbara was born on September 30, 1935, to Clarke and Naomi Allinson in Turlock, CA. She grew up in Delhi, California, where she attended local schools before graduating from Livingston High School. She went on to study at Cal State San Francisco, and while pursuing her education, she continued to nurture the love story that had begun many years before.

Barbara and her husband, Floyd L. Dameron, first met in first grade. Their lifelong bond began when Floyd offered her a valentine, and from that moment, their paths remained intertwined. They attended high school together, went to prom, exchanged love letters through their college years, and eventually married in 1957. Their marriage was a true testament to enduring love, spanning nearly six decades until Floyd's passing in 2014.

Together, Barbara and Floyd built a warm and welcoming home in Lompoc, raising their daughter, Lynell, and later celebrating the joy of grandchildren. Barbara was deeply devoted to her family, finding her greatest happiness in supporting her loved ones and creating lasting traditions. She shared Floyd's love for travel, and together they journeyed across the globe, making memories with family and friends.

Friends and family remember Barbara for her dedication and compassion, both in her career and in her personal life. She was a well-respected kindergarten teacher who cherished her students and loved her 45 years in the classroom. She valued the community she found at the First United Methodist Church, where she nurtured friendships and faith. Barbara also had a deep love for music and the arts, and she encouraged her family to appreciate travel, creativity, and the importance of spending quality time together.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Lynell Hanck and son-in-law Patrick Hanck of Arroyo Grande; granddaughters Megan Skilling and Emma Hanck; and many extended family members and friends who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith.

A service to honor Barbara's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lompoc on November 1, 2025, at 1 PM, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Foundation, 925 North F Street, Lompoc, CA 93436.

Mrs. Dameron was my kindergarten teacher. She was the kindest teacher I’ve ever had. I remember the older kids on the playground telling me how lucky I was to have Mrs. Dameron as my teacher. May you rest in peace Mrs. Dameron.

I remember Mrs. Dameron as my kindergarten teacher Fillmore in 2000. I don't remember too much because I was only 5. I do remember her sweet kind face though. She made going to school for the first time not so scary. Thank You Mrs. Dameron may you rest in peace.

Mrs. Dameron was truly an angel on earth. She was my kindergarten teacher at Fillmore School. It amazed me the first day I took my son to her kindergarten class and she remembered me (don't know if that's good or bad). Lol... she was an amazing teacher & a genuinely caring person. She touched the lives of so many people through the years. Her & Mrs. O are two people I will never forget. They just don't make teachers like her anymore!!! One of a kind, for sure.

Barbara Dameron and Ruth O’Brien, two of my best friends and mentor teachers at Fillmore School in Lompoc. I have so many fond memories of both of them. This photo was taken on one of our jaunts to Maine together. They don’t make them like these two anymore. Barbara was elegant, classy, smart, and such a good writer. Ruthie was funny, honest, with a quick wit, and loving.
We lost Ruthie a few years back, and now Barbara. Today I am very sad, but hopeful these two best friends are together again.

Mrs. Dameron was always poised, polished, thoughtful, calm, graceful, and inquisitive. Mr. and Mrs. Dameron were very generous to me as Lynell's friend since first grade. Mrs. Dameron will be missed.
