JEANNE MARIE FLEMING
1959-2006

Jeanne Marie Fleming went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2006.
She was born June 5, 1959, to Henry "Alex" Aguirre and Mary Rita (Goethel) Aguirre in Harbor City, California.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Alex Aguirre and nephew, Steven Aguirre, both of Lancaster, CA.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years Michael Ray Fleming of Lompoc and her two sons, Michael Ray Fleming, Jr. and Jason Gregory Fleming, both of Lompoc. She is also survived by the following family members: Mother: Mary Rita (Goethel) Aguirre of Lancaster, sisters: Annette Aguirre Freitag (husband Mark) of Danville, CA; Pat Aguirre Turner (Tom) of Belmont, CA; Mary Aguirre of Lancaster, and Elizabeth Brooks (Chris) of Lancaster, Brothers: Jim Aguirre of Seattle, WA, Ray Aguirre (wife Karen) of Lancaster, and Bob Aguirre of Lancaster. She also had numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Jeanne and Mike met while they were both employed with Boeing Aerospace Company at Edwards AFB, CA, in 1979. They were married in Lancaster, CA on July 12th 1980. In 1981 they transferred to Seattle with the Boeing Company and three years later were transferred to Vandenberg AFB. Jeanne worked as an Engineering aide for Boeing over 10 years.
In 1989, she was diagnosed with some rare diseases, one of which was myasthenia gravis. She was also diagnosed with cancer of the Thymus. During her lengthy illness, she underwent several surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. Through it all she found great strength in her relationship with Jesus Christ. When her health allowed, she was very active in church activities as well as support organizations such as the Crisis Pregnancy Support Center. She taught Sunday School for several years at the First Baptist Church of Lompoc, was involved in Women's Bible Studies and Mom's In Touch. Jeanne spent much of her time in Bible Reading, Memorization and Prayer. Some of her favorite scriptures are as follows: Psalm 23, Jeremiah 29: 11, John 14: 1-6; II Cor. 4: 17, just to name a few.
She has always considered others' needs ahead of her own and prayed without ceasing. She also sponsored children for over 20 years through the Christian Children's Fund.
She loved to send cards to her family and loved ones. Other interests included, camping, bike riding, reading and spending time with her special friend and companion Sasha (her dog). She loved hummingbirds as is evidenced by the many hummingbird feeders around her yard as well as her collection of hummingbird figurines.
We celebrate Jeanne's life as a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved daughter, special sister, praying aunt, precious niece and cherished friend. She is "Safe in the Arms of Jesus.. Her life will be celebrated by family and friends at the Calvary Baptist Church on November 2nd at 2 PM.

Mike, Mike and Jason - I apologize for the delay in this; my previous one didn't go through - We just want to extend our love and prayers to your family. Jeanne was a very special person in our lives and we were so sad to hear of your loss. She was always kind, sincere, caring and had a beautiful smile even when we knew she wasn't feeling well. She will be missed by many who knew her and we feel blessed to have known her. She is in that very special place where she is safe, healthy and out of pain. Please know she meant a lot to us. Love always, Leslie, Michael and Naomi Burke and Rebekah Lowthorp - Chico CA

Michael and boys - we are truly saddened by the news of Jeannie's death. She was one of the strongest and most faith-filled women we've had the privilege to know. Her service to First Baptist Church will never be forgotten by us nor her beautiful smile and gentle spirit. We will all miss her so much, and we will be keeping you in our prayers and in our thoughts.
