Jesse Faragan Obituary

JESSE A. FARAGAN
1948-2008

Jesse Arther Faragan passed away peacefully Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his home in Lompoc, CA, ending his battle with cancer. Jesse was surrounded by his wife Nancy, son Nicholas, daughter Jennifer and his pastor, Father Michael Cunningham.
Jesse Arther Faragan was born January 07, 1948 in the Philippine Islands to MSG Manuel Felix Faragan and Marietta Buzan Faragan. Jesse and his family arrived in Lompoc, California in August of 1948 and remained until 1955. Being an Army family they moved to Fort Lewis, WA, then to the Philippines while his father was in Korea and finally Fort Hood, TX.
After Manuel's retirement the family returned to Lompoc in 1962. This move allowed Jesse to finish school with the same kids he had started with back in 1953. He graduated from Lompoc Senior High School in 1966, and obtained an AA from Allan Hancock.
Jesse became a member of St. Mary's in 1979 and was a 31 year member of the Five Cities Elks Lodge in Oceano and an 11 year member of American Legion Post 125. Jesse was a dedicated and faithful employee of UNOCAL for 20 years. He ended his 34 year career in the oil business working for Plains Exploration and Production.
In 1977 Jesse and Nancy were married at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, they would have celebrated their 31st anniversary on October 8 of this year. Jesse is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Jane Donlon (Timothy Roger Donlon) Monterey, CA; son SSG Nicholas Orion Faragan, Fort Jackson, SC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William C. and Mary Goggins, Lincoln, NE; Robert L. Goggins family of Missouri, Robert McKeen of Nebraska and second family and life long friends Alfred, Linda, Dori, Madison and Sally DeMaria, Lompoc, CA; Lisa, Cohen and Channing Wuest, Utah; and Ann Smith, Santa Maria, CA.
He will be greatly missed by his best buddy Help the Dalmation and grand puppies Lucy, Boomer and Andy.
Jesse placed great value in the American tradition of God, Family, and Country. A devoted husband, a loving father, and the life of the party. Jesse will be truly missed by all that have had the great honor of knowing him.
A mass will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Lompoc, California on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. A reception celebrating his beautiful life will immediately follow at the Church Hall. Donations in lieu of flowers to VIVA, St. Mary's Red Shirt Project or Hospice of Santa Barbara.
Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.

Nancy, you are so fortunate to have Linda and Al as your second family and they will take care of you and give you great comfort. All I can think of when I think of Jesse is making him laugh. I doubt he could remain serious for too long. We knew how scared he must have been but he never let it show. Hutch lost a best buddy and a long time breakfast pal. Jesse is having his own family reunion now as he is reunited. God Bless you All. Hutch and Jerre. Remember we are only a phone call away.

Nancy,
I have such fond memories of Jesse when you and I were co-workers at the bank in Lompoc. He was low-key but had a great sense of humor. I'll never forget casting him in the LCT production of "Southern Fried Murder" for the bank christmas party...he was a rookie at acting but just went for it and had a ball.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had the good fortune of knowing Jesse for too short of a time. He was a man of great integrity and a finer gentleman I have never met. Jesse was devoted to his Wonderful-Caring Family who meant the World to him. A Truer Friend you could not ask for. We all are sad and our hearts are heavy...but we must remember God only takes the Best!
My best regards to his Lovely Family. My Love and Prayers go out to you all along with a Big Hug.
God Bles You All
Respectfully
