Helen was my friend, mentor, and former boss. I worked for Helen in the marketing department at Humana during the years we sponsored the Derby Festival Humana Balloon Glow and Race. We had a blast and I was grateful to be able to work for her. Our friendship lasted throughout the years. Anyone who knew Helen, understands that once you have that connection with her, the bond and friendship never goes away no matter where life and work lead us. I will always remember Helen's laughter, stories about her trips, her love for Allen, her passion for flowers and gardens, NASA, good music, and movies. I use to call her a "flower child." She liked that. When I worked for her, I asked her once if I should just call her Helen Whipple or Helen Moss. She replied, "it's Whipple-Moss to you little missy." LOL We laughed, and I reminded her of that from time to time. I loved meeting her for lunch and catching up on the latest gossip and hear her say "honestly" in her sarcastic way. Helen always wanted to hear about my kids, Josh and Jake, and delighted in their accomplishments. She supported me through hard times. She was part of my "girl gang." She had my back and I had hers. One of our last outings was taking a hike to the big overlook in Broad Run Park. That was about a year ago. I am thankful for the last time we were together, which was a week before she passed away. We talked about our good times together, that we loved each other, how much our friendship meant and how grateful we were for the times we shared. We talked about how no one escapes this life without going through the process of dying at some point. We talked about rebirth after death and the mystery of what was waiting beyond the here and now. We talked about what it might look like, and it was exciting. I read her a poem I wrote for her about taking a trip of this lifetime, and she loved it. We laughed, we cried, we prayed, and we said our goodbyes. Helen Whipple-Moss, you were my dear friend, smart, funny, interesting, fiery, caring, creative, and true, and I will miss you greatly, but our memories will live on forever.
Your friend, Robin

Helen was wicked smart and had a quiet, unassuming wit. She was generous, caring, funny, loved life, and always made us feel like family. We will miss her something fierce.

Helen became my friend 15 years ago when I first joined Humana Marketing. Over the years she was my confidant and mentor, and I grew to love her as one of my closest friends. I always felt privileged to have the friendship of such a professional, classy, kind woman.
Within the first couple of years of our friendship, I got to know Allen, and I enjoyed socializing with them both. For awhile we played cards together as part of a monthly group. In fact, during this past year, we talked about starting the group again.
Helen always supported me in whatever I chose to do. After I moved away from Louisville, she opened her home to me, and I occasionally stayed with her when I came to town.
I pray Helen is reunited with her beloved Allen, whom she never stopped missing. There will be a hole in my life from now until I see Helen in Heaven.
