I just found out yesterday and needless to say am shocked and saddened. JR was truly a good and fair man with whom it was always a pleasure to do business or just talk. I wish his family peace of mind and to have comfort in the thought that our loved ones live on forever in our memories. Please accept the condolences of me and my whole family who have interacted with JR through the years.

Out thoughts and prayers are with JR's family. We first met JR in 1990 and have had our cars serviced by him for the last fourteen years. Last March, we bought our most recent Volvo for our daughter, who was getting ready to go off to college in Ohio. JR told us that if our daughter had car trouble in Ohio, he would have the car towed to Louisville so they could work on it. We always trusted JR and knew that he would sell us a reliable car backed up by excellent service. He was a wonderful person and he was someone that we always trusted. We will miss him dearly.

What a great man JR was! JR serviced my VOLVO at TAFEL and I followed him to his own shop. I sent a friend with a Mercedes to him before he was really servicing them. He saw her as a favor to me. She was having a hard time financially, was ill, and needed the heater to work and a stuck window to go up as it was winter and she had 5 children. She lived in Taylorsville and worked and saw doctors in Louisville. When we picked up her car, she immediately noticed that her tires had been changed. She said thanks but she couldn't afford them and asked him to please take them off. He told her that he couldn't in good conscience let her drive off with the old tires, they were in such bad shape, and to pay him a few dollars whenever she could until they were paid for.And to come back with any other problems in the mean time! Who else do you know that would have done this wonderful act? We could all learn from JR's action that day! I've told this story MANY times when referring people to JR. It's all they ever needed to hear to trust him!! We really miss you, JR!

As customers of JR's, we have always been impressed by the business, the service and the people. But beyond the business, we have always been impressed by the sense of family that exists. We can think of no other business that made us, customers, feel almost like a part of that inner circle. JR always managed to do that, and while we know that his family will continue that practice, we will truly miss him.
It was an honor and a privilege to know him even in a limited way, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

From our first meeting in 1989 to set up a service schedule for the '86 740 family wagon, I knew that J.R. was a fine, respectable man. He had that air about him - self-confident, full of life, fair, and a true Volvo expert. Since that first meeting and all subsequent dealings including three more "new" Volvos for my two kids at UK and for me (finally), J.R. always had a smile and always, always treated me and my family fairly.
As I saw him for the last time today, I realized that while it doesn't seem fair, I know he's sitting in a boat with the Great Fisherman with a line in the water discussing the finer qualities of bass or of the Volvo 1800 models. For those of us left behind, the Lord will bless us with memories and keep us safe. The Light of the World shines brightest in our darkest hour.

I've only known JR for a short time (since he started his lot in the Highlands) but gained immediate respect for his gentle manner and pride he took in his business. JR was an asset to our neighborhood and will be greatly missed. R.I.P.

I can hardly bear the thought of our city losing J.R. How much more difficult it must be for his wonderful family. J.R. was the reason our family continued to buy Vovo's. We could count on his advice, service, and friendship. He was a model businessman and deserving of respect and trust. I beleive he emulated Jesus Christ in his interactions with all people. He truly had a servant's heart. May God give his family the peace that passes understanding, and may the legacy continue. Sincerely, Karen Flaherty

We were not privileged to know J.R. personally but we can tell you that his kindness to our son, Kevin and one of J.R.'s employees, was beyond all standards of today's business world. Kevin lost his wife in 2000 and in 2001 his infant son and we want to not only tell J.R's family but the whold world that NO employeer could have matched the compasion and consideration given to Kevin. Our family will remember always with deepest gratitude this special man that made a difference in everyone's life that he came in contact with. Our love and prayers go out to the Robinson family. Remember, when there seems no way, God makes a way. God's blessings to each of you.

It was very sad to hear the news because JR was such a good person. He treated everyone with respect and always went the extra mile in any of our transactions. We always felt a little better knowing that our kids as new drivers were in his Volvos. It's a very special person who gives your newly licensed daughter his personal cell phone in case she has a problem with the car and says call anytime day or night. He will always be with us in our memories and those memories will always bring a smile.

J.R. was a kind, decent, hard-working person. When we recently bought our third VOVO from him for our 16-year
-old daughter he handed her his business card with his cell phone no. on it and told her she could call him anytime with a problem. What a great guy who will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife, kids, Lonnie, Rick, Kevin and all the J.R. family. Melinda, Larry, Eric and Suzanne Snyder

I was devasted to hear about your loved one, J.R. I would stop by his dealership in the Highlands to see what he had on the lot. He would always let me test drive any car and answer any questions I had about Volvo's. He was never in a hurry and there was never any pressure. He was one of those people you felt you had known all your life. J.R. is in a "good place". Each day God will watch over his family and friends and lift your sorrows. GOD BLESS.

It is with great sadness that I received the news of J.R.'s passing. Being one of the older of Charlene's sisters I've watched the Robinson kids grow up. One of the things I've noticed was how loving, caring ,polite and compassionate they always are. They always make you feel like family. My prayer for You Jeannie and all your family is that you'll lean now on the only one who can give you comfort and the strength you need to get through this, that is your Lord. May He hold you in His arms of love as only He can. Family is everything at a time like this, comfort each other. And call on your extended family like me any time.

J.R. WAS MY FRIEND, AND I WILL MISS HIM, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT SEEN HIM SINCE WE MOVED TO CELEBRATION. WE BECAME ACQUAINTENCES WHEN HE FIRST OPENED HIS LITTLE SHOP. I THINK, FROM THE FIRST MEETING WITH HIM WE WOULD BE FRIENDS FOR YEARS TO COME, AND I VALUED THAT MEETING, BECAUSE A MAN IS LUCKY TO HAVE JUST ONE FRIEND, AND J.R. MADE EVERYBODY HE TOUCHED FEEL THE SAME WAY,COMFTORABLE AND SECURE. I KNOW THERE ARE NO WORDS TO SOFTEN THE TRADGEDY THAT HAS BEEN PUT ON THE ROBINSON FAMILY TO BEAR. I WILL MISS HIM, BUT EACH TIME I THINK OF HIM IN THE YEARS TO COME, IT WILL NOT BE TO MOURN HIS DEATH, BUT TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE, HIS FRIENDSHIP, AND ESPECIALLY HIS SPECIAL GIFT FROM GOD THAT ALLOWED HIM TO GENERATE POSITIVE ADDITUDES AND FEELINGS FOR MOST EVERYONE HE MET.
IN CLOSING I FEEL THAT GOD TOUCHES SOME PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL GIFTS, AND WHEN THOSE GIFTS ARE USED PROPERLY, THE FATHER SMILES AND WILL BE TELLING HIM,J.R. JOB WELL DONE,COME ON IN AND SIT A WHILE WITH ME AND WE WILL WATCH OVER THOSE KIDS AND WIFE TOGETHER. GOD WILL WATCH OVER YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DURING THIS SAD, BUT JOYOUS PERIOD.

To J.R's Family,
J.R. may have been the front man, but he is just one example of a solid family business, where I received nothing short of courtesy, honesty and respect every time we intersected. We've bought several cars from your business and had them serviced over the years, and have a great respect for J.R. and Lonnie and Kevin. My family and I are so saddened by J.R.'s passing and feel a personal loss, too. Our hearts go out to you during this hard time. We'll rremember J.R. fondly.
