Odress Hawkins Obituary

HAWKINS, ODRESS RAY, 73, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Ray obtained his diesel mechanic degree in Tennessee and went to work for Greyhound for 25 years. He also had his auctioneer's license, real estate license, was a co-owner of Martina Pools with Jim and Marlene Wathen, was a tank mechanic for the Army and recently retired from General Electric. He was a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, a former member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and was a KY Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odress Duvall and Theresa Elizabeth Hawkins; and his sister, Delores Hawkins.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Mary A. "Tina" Hawkins; son, Christopher Ray Hawkins (Melissa); daughter, Leslie Carol French (Dr. Bill); brothers, Edward P. Hawkins and Larry J. Hawkins (Karen); sisters, Barbara Zupon, Carolyn Joyce and Dianna Jaggers (Leroy); grandchildren, Lauren, David, Scott, Kyle, Sarah and Kaitlyn; and great-grandchild, Todd.

His funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S 6th St. with entombment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to his church or the Foundation for American Veterans.
