Patricia Deutsch Obituary

Deutsch, Patricia Ann,

87, died peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Seneca Place.

Pat was born in Louisville, to the late Burt L. and Lois M. Deutsch. Patsy, as she was known, graduated from Loretto High School in 1946 and then attended Hunter College in New York City. Pat was a lifelong singer, performing on WINN in Louisville. She also sang for the troops with the USO in World War II and with The Holy Name Choral Club and St. Raphael's church choir. For many years she worked at Stewarts Department Store in the cosmetics department. Pat was disabled in her 30's but lived a happy life and was a constant joy to all who knew her.

Patricia was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Schuler. She is survived by her sisters, Jean M. Smith and Barbara D. Gregg; and brother, Burt J. Deutsch, Sr. (Mary Lane Whitty). "Aunt Pat" is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nephews and nieces, as well as many friends who loved to hear her sing and who were nourished by her "Pat-isms."

The family would like to thank the excellent and friendly people at Active Day at Hikes Point for their everyday care of Pat, to the people at Almost Family and to her personal caregivers Polly and Sadie.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in Pat's name to the Louisville Zoo.

There are so many memories to share; Christmases, Easters, birthdays, weddings, and all the other family get-togethers. But the memories I cherish most are from those times when I was a kid and you and I rode the bus to Lakeside. You were always so proud to show-off your nephew to your friends at the swim club, and I always looked forward to those times we spent with each other. You were always fun to joke with, Aunt Pat, and though I know you got frustrated when you had trouble expressing yourself, you always seemed to take things in stride. I grew up and grew away from you, and that is my loss; one I will bear until the end of my days. I will miss you greatly. There is one thing, however, to which I am anxiously looking forward to knowing when again we meet. Maybe it happens at your first Heavenly meal with the Big Guy, or maybe it occurs as the two of you stroll through the gardens of Heaven, your infirmities only a distant memory. Dear Aunt Pat, you must tell me of God's reaction when you first ask Him, Whatcha gonna do . . .?
