Richard Bowden Obituary
Louisville - age 50, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018. He was born on November 19, 1967 to the late Billy and Constance Jo Bowden. During his 31 years of ministry, he served at Shively Heights Baptist Church, in Louisville and North Charleston Baptist Church in Charleston, WV. For the last 20 years he was the senior pastor at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, in Louisville. He was a graduate of Cumberland College and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is survived by wife, Linda Bryant Bowden; children, Seth, Micaiah, and Bethany Bowden; sister, Jana Hack (Larry), and Deborah Stowers (Rick); nephew, Jason Hack; nieces, Shannon Messer, and Kaylee Stowers; and brother-in-laws, Ben and Daryl Bryant.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, 2120 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY 40216. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens Cemetery West.
Visitation will be from 12 - 9 PM on Friday, August 31, and from 11 - 1 PM on Saturday, both at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to F.L.C.C. Building Fund of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church or Hosparus of Louisville (hosparushealth.org/donate).

I just found out today while surfing the web. Linda, I am so sorry.
I very briefly served as Rick's Associate in Charleston. In the brief time I worked with him he exhibited a calm, a grace, and a compassion that has stuck with me during my last twenty years of ministry. I would hope that I will be remembered as fondly as this mighty man of God.

Jana and Larry I just heard about your brother's death today. I was having lunch with Pastor Curry from 1st Church. He ran into two men from your church. That when I heard the terrible news. Please accept my apologies for not asking about your family at Jackie's service. I met him several times very nice person. A true man of God. I hope you and all of your family are doing the best you can. Again I'm so sorry. I hope his wife and children are doing well. I will pray for all of you. Very tough time. It still seems like a bad dream with Jackie. I know you all feel the same. We don't understand why, but at least we know where they are and the pain and sickness is gone. We can only trust God in these times.

James and I are heart broken at the news of Rick's passing and that we will not be able to celebrate Rick's faithfulness and life with you all on Saturday. Please know you are all continually in our thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Our church and Mother's Day Out staff are praying for you all as well.
We were blessed to be able to come and spend some time with Rick and Linda a couple of weeks ago and will treasure that time forever. Thank you Linda for allowing us that opportunity . We love and miss you all!! James and Ava McClintock

Words could never express the heartbreak I have for the sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephew, their families, his church family, and last of all Linda, Seth, Micaiah, and Bethany.
I can see Rick still, with flicker of hope in his eyes, feel his arms wrapping around soul as if he were a blanket, and I can hear his laughter and wisdom...time will come to us all...even when we wish for cures and more time.
I keep with me those memories...I pray for a family that in a lot of ways grew to be my own, and I look forward to the day we shall meet again. Roll Tide Rick. I carry you in the journals and photographs of my mind...until we meet again...
