It is hard to believe that Brad has been gone for five years. He was so congenial to talk to. I've thought of him over these last years in May. We have to think our loss is Heaven's gain. We had him for such a short period of time. Someday what a reunion we will have. Until we meet again Hope will carry us through.

Isildor,

It's Josheells, back in the day you rolled a blood elf paladin in the game World of Warcraft. We were in the shadowsong server and you were in my guild "The Knights of Fenris". Brad, i just found out that you passed away. I never knew you in RL but i bet you were a great kid because you were one hell of a guildie. Wish i had the power to rez you back to life and we can still be kicking it but i know you got better places to be. Miss ya man.

Bradley,
I have no words that could even begin to define the gaping abyss that is now inside when you were ripped away from me. It has taken me almost a year to write this and I'm still at a loss for words. Most of this time has just been a hazy blur since I last saw your face that night and remains so. You are still my best friend and there will never be another that could take your place. I learned so much from you. You made me swear that you would always be my only child because you didn't want to share me and each time I made the promise, but I always laughed and said you were stingy, but inside I always felt flattered. The last time you made me promise was when we were at the top of the stairs and you were getting ready to give me away at my wedding. I don't know how to put into words how much I miss you and long to see your beautiful, sweet eyes and smile. I really need to see you again and hug you. I love you more than is humanly possible and just cannot wait til we meet again.
I love you Bradley-Boo,
Momma

Brad,

I still can't believe you're gone. Seems like it was just yesterday we were graduating from high school. You were such a good friend. When I was down and needed someone to talk to, you were right there for me. You made a great impact in a lot of peoples lives... including mine. Your life was cut way too short; I still don't understand why you had to go so soon. Only God knows. It was really hard going to the funeral and seeing everyone crying, especially your mom. I felt so bad. I won't ever forget you or your great sense of humor. We will meet again but until then it's not goodbye... it's see you later! Rest in peace, my friend.

Love always,
Krystal

"For days now, my heart has been physically sore. I contemplate why God chose him right now. Brad is very special, because God has already made better plans for him. Although I was not very close to him, we had a few laughs throughout the years. I know how awesome of a guy he was and I know he loved everyone. There wasn't a mean bone in his body. He was the glue that kept so many people together and he was the person many people went to for comfort. He wasn't judgemental and he was very understanding of everyone. He truly was everyone's friend. I know that he is now sitting up in Heaven with God. He is a guardian angel and he is watching over all of us now. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Layne family and all his friends. God be with you all and keep staying strong when times are rough. Brad is continuing to bring everyone closer together even when he is not here. I love you Brad and I hardly knew you."

To the Steven Bradley Jordan Layne Family, I was shocked to get the news of Brad' passing. I met Brad at my Mothers kitchen table and he was so vibrant and alive with vision and dreams. We don't understand why, but our hearts ache with the loss. We know that he has gone away with a friend who loves him more than we and promises him eternal life. We have to trust that Jesus will protect him and we look forward to a reunion someday. May God give you the strength to deal with this sad loss. Brad was a friend of mine at Eastern High School. He had I didn't hang out very much but we did talk in school.
He was the teacher's aid/assistant in my health class and that how I mainly got to know him.
Hearing the news about him made me cry instantly.
He and his family are in my prayers.
LOVE AND MISS YOU BRAD!

I am sitting here thinking of how I remember Brad.....He was a much younger boy, who would come to Floyd County to visit his beloved Nanny Reda. She loved him so. While visiting, he and Keith often rode dirt bikes or played video games together. He was always so polite and easy going. As I read the entries from those who spent time with him as a young man, it is easy to see that he was the same kind person, who was very easy to love. It's also apparent that he touched many peoples' lives during his time here on Earth.

Robbie and I want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Brad and I in our box fort <3

erica ellingsworth

May 16, 2011

My name is Erica Ellingsworth and Brad was a dear friend of mine. I have so many memories of him, my favorites being in Mr. Holmes graphics class in 7th grade. We hardly ever did work in there because we were ALWAYS goofing off. It was me, Brad, Madison James, Shelby Sizemore, Shelby Lieffring, and Chris Filiaggi. We all sat in the back corner together.
One day, we decided to make a box fort out of all the empty boxes next to our computers. We used about 20 boxes to make this fort and it was pretty big and we could all fit inside it too.
There was also a little bit of space between the computers and the walls so everyone decided that since I was the smallest I would crawl back there and pop up behind people's computers and scare them.
Every time there was spirit week at Eastern our whole group always went FULL out.
Brad and I would always exchange clothes in class like switching out each others jackets and sunglasses.
I have pictures of all of these, and will post them so you all can see the fun times that we all shared with Brad in what was my FAVORITE class of my entire 4 years of High School.
I will never forget Brad Layne, and he will always have a special place in my heart. I know he's in a better place now, probably playing for God's band. He was taken from us earlier than necessary but I know he is looking down at all of us and watching over us. <3
