I became a friend of Cecilia`s through her daughter, Anne Barrett, one of my dearest friends.

I met Cecilia in May of 1990 on the day Anne and I graduated from Boston College with our masters in psychiatric nursing. It was the first family gathering, but certainly not the last, in which I was heartened by her luminous presence and beautiful smile.

Anne and Phil went on to host what must be by now hundreds of warm and wonderful gatherings at their home in Dorchester. Cecilia was always there. That beautiful smile and luminous presence was always as bright and welcoming as the first day we met. I loved being in her presence.
I can imagine the enormity of this loss to Anne and her family. My heart goes out to you and I hope you´ll be comforted in the knowledge of how much Cecilia loved you all.
