TEWKSBURY: Christopher Paul Donovan, age 72, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at Billerica Crossings on Friday, July 7, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of Phyllis M. (Dillon) Donovan with whom he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on May 28, 2023.

Born in Everett on December 31, 1950, he was the son of the late John Donovan and the late Mary (Harrington) Donovan.

Chris was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1970.

Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam War era with Company C 16th Signal Battalion and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the M-16 Sharpshooter Badge for his active-duty service.

Prior to his retirement in 2010, he was a member of I.B.E.W Local 103 and worked for forty years for New England Telephone, NYNEX and Verizon Communications.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Liam M.C. Donovan, of Tewksbury: his granddaughter, Daiva M. Donovan: four brothers, James Donovan and his wife Peggy, of Hull, Robert Donovan and his wife Janice, of Quincy, Jay Donovan and his wife Joanne, of Tewksbury, and John Donovan and his wife Linda, of Billerica: his sister-in-law, Noeleen McDonnell and her husband Eamonn, of Ipswich. He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 18th, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury and interment of his ashes at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org
