David Roy Obituary

NORTH CHELMSFORD - David E. Roy, 60, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2022. David was born in Newport, Virginia, on May 19, 1962, to Arthur and Mary Roy and lived most of his childhood and adult life in Chelmsford. David graduated from Nashoba Valley Technical High School and from Springfield Technical Community College with a degree in drafting. Since graduating, David spent most of his career working as a pressman at printing presses in the Lowell area. A loving father, grandfather, brother and partner, David was a kind, gentle and respectful soul who loved spending his time with his family, especially his son, and lending a helping hand to those in need. David frequently spoke admirably about his family, his love of animals and his annual spring vacations to Aruba. He took great pride in his integrity and dignity, always aiming to please while going over-and-above to make those around him happy. He understood that working hard to do the right thing made him a better person than taking the easy road. David is survived by his girlfriend, Cheryl Armstrong, with whom he shared a home with for many years; his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Sarah, and grandson Jacob, all of Billerica; his siblings, Catherine Lake and her husband James of Sun City, FL, Karen King and her husband Scott of Chelmsford, Sharyn Castagno and her husband Stephen of Pound Ridge, NY, John Roy of Winthrop, Christopher Roy and his wife Ginamarie of Beverly; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves his cats, Caesar and Memphis. Besides his parents, David was preceded by his wife Cheryl (Keith) Roy, his brother Edward Roy, his sister Sandra Clark, his nephew Michael Roy, and long-time beloved second mother Evelyn Cronin. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 26th from 5pm to 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to Neurofibromatosis Northeast, 9 Bedford Street, Burlington, Massachusetts 01803 (781) 272-9936. Funeral Directors Paul A. Hardy, Jr. & Jennifer Hardy. For directions and online guestbook, visit CHELMSFORDFUNERALHOME.COM and find us on Facebook.

David was always so friendly. I met him at the pool about 9 yrs ago. He always went out of his way to strike up a conversation. He always talked about how much he loved Aruba and talked about it often. The one thing he bought himself in Aruba was this gigantic iced coffee cup which he loved and was proud of. He was so happy when his son Christopher and daughter in-law Sarah got married. Especially the gift from him and Cheryl to Aruba. This Summer we learned that his son and his wife were having his grandson Jacob´s baby shower. We loved hearing about the different gifts they were thinking of getting. David will be dearly missed. We will miss hearing about their day trips, concerts on the common the seafood fest in Hampton and all their favorite restaurants they went to. Cheryl and Family David will be in our thoughts and prayers and dearly missed. Hannah and Adrian Cumpston
