u know the thing about dex is that,no matter how u were to him,he was always there to help me with anything i needed. all he ever wanted from me was to be good to my mother and for me to behave. and i always looked up to him because he had more patients for me than alot of people should have.and i never got to thank him for that. so i want him to know that i love him and i am so thankful that he helped me when i really needed it. R.I.P uncle dexter love u forever and always

It's hard to believe it has already been a month. It feel's like I saw you last weekend. I miss you so much.I know I'll see you again, but right now it still suck's...I love you and miss you .

April 3, 2009

I never thanked Dexter personally for fixing my daughter's car on her first "roadtrip". My daughter's were visiting friends five hours away from home when they had car problems and didn't know if they could make the return trip. I was an absolute wreck...until Marti and Dexter came to the rescue! Marti was also in the area where my girls were and arranged for Dexter to fix their car-on his own time and all for $20!! He was just that kind of guy! I expressed my gratitude to Dexter through Marti, but that's just how it was. I figured I'd just thank Dexter personally the next time he came up to visit. So, Dexter...Thank You!.I never really knew Dexter, having met him once when he came up to visit his family. I really only "knew" him through his sister, Marti. She always spoke of him, and still does, and talked of how he was her son's "Superman"-and how he always bought her kids the "cool" gifts! Marti and Dexter would speak on the phone often, and sometimes they would bicker back and forth, the way brothers and sisters do. I couldn't help but smile to myself remembering that my older brother and I used to do the same thing. Marti, I no longer have my older brother, and my heart just breaks for you! I can't begin to express the sorrow I feel for you, your children (especially Bryce), and your parents. I know, in time, the pain will lessen, but there will always be that void; fill it with memories and laughter. May peace find you and your family, and know that you are surrounded by people who love you.

I'm so so so sad that "Uncle Deckter" (As my 3 year old son Marcus called him!) is gone. I wished so hard that this was a bad dream and i would wake up and he'd still be here... We miss you so much and will always have love for you! You will always be a Big Brother in my heart!!! You will always be thought of and remembered! We love you Dex!!!

Dex,
Where do I begin? I will forever cherish the memories that we shared together and continue to hold you close to my heart. I will always remember your smile, sense of humor and incredible personality that followed you through this incredibly short journey. You had the innate ability to touch my life in a way that I never imagined possible. Thank you for sharing your life with me through the ups, down, and everything that fell in between. I will always love you! -Mel

We all desire a perfect ending. I've now learned the hard way, that some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing; instead embracing change and taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. I believe that you lived your life following such a compass, and never failed to find the positive in every situation or life you touched. It's safe to say that we all envy the angels who surround you. Remember that it's not necessarily what you took when you left this world behind you, but instead what was left behind for us all! We will always love you Dex! Kaity and Jess

Dex, everytime I hear the rumble of a truck go by our house I think you are stopping in to visit. Many thought you were the tough biker guy who would rather punch you than talk to you, if only they knew you would rather give them a hug instead. I'll miss you staying at our house overnight and trying to hide from our cats, and just so everyone knows, Dexter was afraid of cats. You said you didnt trust them and that you thought they were watching you.Hopefully in Heaven there is a cat free zone so you need not worry the kittens are going to attack. When I met you I gained a good friend and even though God decided he needed a great mechanic you will always be in my thoughts and until we meet again, peace out G Money.

Dexter became a member of our family the minute that I met him when he was with my son Dave Dobens. He didn't care if you were 3 or 60 years of age. He would just enjoy being himself, laughing, talking, making himself at home. What was fun about this young man was the way he handled himself, very polite, respectful, pleasent, ALWAYS offering a helping hand, taking time for others. He will truly be missed. You were taken way to soon!

Hey Dex, Well i just herd the news today. For some unknown reason he took you away from us. After i herd what had happened to you the first thing that popped into my head was; the day you where installing my new radio in my little car. You had to put the seat all the way down and back. Opened the sunroof so your head would stop hitting it. You kept repeating your self saying " I feel like one of those clowns in the tiny cars in the movie Dumbo." All i could do was laugh. Then of course you had to take to the car for a drive around the block. I had to shift for you because you could not move. you always made me laugh no matter what. Everyday i would walk up to you and you would say, "Yes Jenn, i will give you a ride home." On the way home we would jam out to the Doors. You knew every song word for word. Tonight as i was talking to my cousin John he told me he saw you not to long ago and you where asking about me. Before you left you said to him, "Tell Jenn i said Hello." So it just goes to show we never stopped thinking about each other or being friends. One day we will see each other again so you better have the Doors tape ready to go. I love and miss you.
You will never be forgotten!!!
