He was born in Winsted, Conn., son of the late Eugene Francis and Ellen (Fox) McMahon. He graduated from Gilbert School in 1957 and the College of Holy Cross in 1962.
Mr. McMahon, a certified public accountant, was retired as National Director of Banking for Ernst & Young, an international accounting firm.
Mr. McMahon resided in Weston. Previously, he lived in New Hartford, Conn., from 1966 to 1983, where he was active in town politics serving as chairman of the School Board and as a member of the Board of Finance.
He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed tennis, boating and especially golf. He was a member and former treasurer of the Weston Golf Club.
He was also a member and former treasurer of the Megantic Fishing Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
Besides serving on the board of directors of other firms, he held a lifelong educational pursuit of the Spanish language.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Kathleen and Jeffrey Bochman of Hingham, Kristine and David Yanofsky of Greenland, N.H., Eugene McMahon III and his wife, Connie Flieger of Westborough, and Brenden and Kimberley McMahon of Lowell; his grandchildren, Sarah and Annie Yanofsky, Ben and Claire Bochman, Arthur, Elliott and Katherine McMahon.

Bob was a close childhood friend and classmate of Gene; growing up together on Allen Street in Winsted.
Although Rose didn't know Gene personally, she has shared in many of Bob's memories over the years.
