Evelyn M. (Langill) Maille of Lowell, age 87, died at Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Gerard Maille of Billerica, with whom she was married to for 34 years.

She was born in Woburn on March 26, 1936 and the daughter of the late Irene (Chase) and Robert Langill. Prior to her retirement from the U.S. Department of Defense, she was the activities director and spent a lot of her time volunteering at various nursing homes, where she got to share her love of music with the residents.

Evelyn was an avid country music enthusiast and a very accomplished musician, singer and song writer. She also enjoyed sports, reading, cribbage, bingo and had a huge love for animals, having many cats throughout her life.

In addition to her husband Gerard, Evelyn is survived and will be deeply missed by her four children, Arthur DesMaris of NH, Jeffrey DesMaris of Billerica, Catherine Knox and her husband Thomas of FL and Dawne Schermerhorn and her husband John of Wakefield; her nine grandchildren, Marcus, Jennifer, A.J. and his wife Meagan, Max and his fiancé Vicky, Alexandra and her husband Jeffrey, Ryer and his wife Hallie, Lily, Zach and his wife Tory and Emma; her five great-grandchildren, Trey, Briley, Kami, George and Aurora; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Betty Baker and Robert, George and Kenneth Langill.

Relatives and friends are invited to Evelyn's Life Celebration on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4 until 6 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 6 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell.
