Francis Coles Obituary

Francis S. 'Frank' Coles of Tyngsborough, active in community; 91 TYNGSBOROUGH Mr. Francis S. "Frank" Coles, a resident of Tyngsborough for over 60 years, died late Wednesday evening, at a local nursing home, after a very brief illness, aged 91 years. He was the husband of the late Doris E. (Gates) Coles who predeceased him in 2003. Born in Everett, MA, on April 14, 1917 the son of the late Harry and Pauline (Kelly) his birth mother, who died when he was two years old, and Blanche (Marriott) Coles, his step-mother who raised him. He received his early education in Dunstable where the family had moved when he was two years old. He was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1936. A man of many vocations he had worked as a carpenter, worked in the plumbing and heating business, and in 1965 became employed by Sweetheart Plastics in Manchester, NH, as warehouse manager, retiring in 1982.A life member of the Tyngsboro Sportsmen Club he joined in 1947, and had served on various committees serving as chairman of the Trout Pond for a few years. A 32 Degree Mason he held membership in the William North Lodge A.F. & A.M., held membership in both its Scottish & York Rite Bodies of Lowell. He also held membership in the Aleppo Temple Shrine, A.A.O.N.O.M.S. O.M. of Wilmington, MA, and a longtime member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 720 of Nashua NH. He was a member of The Evangelical Congregational Church of Tyngsboro. Surviving him are two loving daughters, Sandra L. Gordon of Brookline, MA and Sharon P. Lavigne and her husband Paul of Lowell; his loving son, David W. Coles and his wife, Annette W. of Tyngsborough. He is also survived by two grand-daughters, Barbara Scott Wheeler and her husband, Timothy of Amesbury, Susan Pinnell and her husband, Donald of Framingham; four grandsons, Donald S. Gordon III and his wife, Jennifer of CA, David W. Coles, Jr. and his wife, Heidi of FL, Scott F. Coles and Lisa Belozo of Salem, NH, Derek A. Coles and his wife, Allison of Windham, NH; also 13 great-grandchildren. COLES Mr. Francis S. "Frank" Coles, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, died in Lowell, Dec. 10, 2008, age 91 years. He was the husband of the late Doris E. (Gates) Coles. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd. at Chester and Harvard Sts. Lowell, on Sunday December 14th from 3 until 5 PM, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. Friends invited. Friends who wish may make Memorial Contributions in his name to the Lowell Visiting Nurse Assoc. of Greater Lowell P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853. The interment will be private. Funeral Director Walter F. Bayliss, Jr.
