God Rest your Soul, George. Lou, Tara and family, blessings and condolences. We were blessed and greeted by a gentleman, every time we walked into the Deli. Always during the worst of storms he would especially stay and feed us the best of meals. You know Lou when the power would go out. I would call, tell you, " don't close " we will have you powered up shortly. Knowing we were all exhausted, starved and your Dad, you and family would feed and rejuvenate us. Your Dad has taught us all !!! Caring, kindness, passion, dedication by an unparalleled example, work ethic of loving what careers we chose. His dedication of love for family, customers work, shined in his smile and eyes ever time we arrived. Thank You George for being a shining example of how we should live, love, greet, accept every person, we encounter daily in OUR LIVES !!!

Louie and Family I just heard of your your fathers passing. He was a special man who always made you feel welcomed. I started buying torpedos there when he opened and have not stopped. He was loved by all who knew him. Truly one of the best men I have had the pleasure of knowing. I hope you can take comfort in all you and your family have done for/with him over the years and cherish the memories you have working side by side in the family business.

Louie and Family:
Your dad was the ultimate human being with his positive demeanor, caring soul, and his sharing of precious words of wisdom to the young and old alike. Always a gentleman and kind hearted man. Many fond memories of his generosity, humility, and spartan spirit that would take a generation to list. He was an angel in disguise among us all. He will be dearly missed and always loved. God Bless.

To his family...I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man who ran a great business. I was raised in the Swede Village section and ate at George's Deli on several occasions over the years. To this day when I fly up to visit family I always stop and have a "Sub".

When he first opened the shop we were the teenagers that hung out there night and day. We really got to know George, Steve and Tess. He trusted us very much. One busy Saturday he was running low on rolls so he asked us to take his car to Sunray Bakery in Lawrence. We did so and brought back the rolls just in time. He worried about us as we went off to Vietnam, and welcomed us back when most of us returned. Fondly respected and remembered by Fred D, Mike M, Pete B, Java B,and Bob K.

George was a good man. I ate at the restaurant since the 1970's. The mushroom cheese steak was the best around. My father ate breakfast there almost every day.
