James Quealey Obituary

Beloved Husband, Father and

Grandfather

LOWELL

James "Jim" Quealey passed away, surrounded by his family, on January 3, 2023. Jim was the son of David and Margaret (O'Hare) Quealey, born on October 6, 1939, in Dorchester MA. He was the beloved wife of Charlotte "Peachie" (Dowling) Quealey for over 52 years. Growing up in Lowell, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, and later a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. In 1965 Jim joined the Lowell Fire Department and rose to the rank of lieutenant, he was a proud serving member for 39 years, retiring in 2004.

When you didn't find Jim at the firehouse, you could find him playing handball at "The Y" with his lethal corner shot, skiing, or playing golf at Long Meadow Golf Club with his wife, Peachie, to whom he was married for 52 years. Jim and Peachie enjoyed travelling, with Jim's most memorable trip to his family farm in Ireland, being so proud of his Irish heritage.

In addition to his wife Peachie, Jim is survived by his daughter Holly (Quealey) McAnespie and her husband Dan of Lowell, Kerry (Quealey) Ryan and her husband Terry of Westford, and Son-in-Law Rob Gumb of Hollis, NH. His 8 grandchildren Meghan McAnespie, Hannah McAnespie, Matthew Ryan, Molly McAnespie, Alexandra Ryan, Emily Ryan, Addison Gumb, and William Gumb. Jim is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Jamie (Quealey) Gumb.

Jim is also survived by his sister, Claire (Quealey) Dube and her husband Butch and pre-deceased by his brothers, David, John, and Joe Quealey. Peachie would like to thank the staff at Bayberry Emerald Court in Tewksbury for all their support in taking good care of Jim while he was a resident.

Family and Friends may call at THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH 144 East Merrimack St. LOWELL, on MONDAY, JAN. 9, 2023, from 10 AM until 11:45 AM. Mr. Quealey's FUNERAL MASS will begin at 12 NOON.

My y deepest sympathy for Mr. Quealey the fireman. I knew him since I was a boy. His brother John at the store when I lived on Lenox and So. Whipple St. and few other places in the Grove.Them Ryan relations from my fireman Unclul Bill and aunt Helen (Sheehan) Ryan? Bless the memory of them all. I was in Co. Kerry when John went to Ireland to Innis. Booking Passage by Thomas Lynch is a good book from a man who came from the same area in Ireland. Movine. They told me memories of my grandmother Mame (Lynch) Sheehan. My grandfather was the Motorman. God bless their memories, all. As we continue on in the challenging coming election year. God bless them that worked in the Holy Name Society. What they did for the least of folks they did for Jesus.
