Dear Webbowski,
Paul Simon once wrote in his sad but beautiful song "Old Friends," about two old friends who can't believe life has passed by so fast but found comfort in the fear of the aging by knowing they still had each other, "Can you imagine us years from today sharing a park bench quietly, how terribly strange to be seventy." We always talked and joked since we were young men in our twenties that we'd be those old friends feeling terribly strange still hanging out together at 70. It still breaks my heart now being past the age of 70 having to seat on that park bench without my best friend beside me as you left us much, much too early at 60. Rest assured my dearest friend, I never sit on a park bench without thinking about you and all kindness, loyalty, joy and solace you provided me through all the wonderful years we shared together. There's a line I quote from an old homeless friend who called himself Captain Jack from my memoir of growing up in Lowell's Little Canada in which he says to console me as he has to move on from the coming destruction of Little Canada, "This is so long matey...keep you chin up, mates like us are always linked and will stay that way in this world and the next." Jimmi, my greatest mate, we remain and always will stay connected. I miss you dear friend.

I miss you my dearest and best friend. Hope you are with Charlie Jr., Joey, Uncle Arthur, my Mom, your Mom and Dad and looking over us. It's been a crazy year. The world needs people with your warmth, kindness & gentleness. It feels so much more lonely without you in it. Here's the beautiful poem you wrote called "Lonely" that I put to music and we sang together. Wish you were still here to sing it with me. Love, Your Gargiulobonski best friend, Charlie Gargiulo Sr.

Dear Jimmi,
I miss you so much my dear friend. Things are really crazy down here on Earth and the past year has been Hell and remember how much your mere presence was such a source of comfort and strength. I hope you and Joey greeted Charlie Jr. with open, loving arms because he suffered so much for so long giving us as much time with us as he could. I know he missed the both of you so much and glad you are together in a place meant for such kind souls as the three of you. Please send us your love and protection as we all need a guardian angel during these perilous times. Know that I will always love you, my dearest friend.

To my best friend Jimmi, I still miss you more and more each day Jimmi. You were the greatest friend of my life, you were the brother I never had. The hole you left can never be filled. I hope you are with Joey, your Mom and Dad, my Mom and Uncle Arthur and that Midnight is still giving you a hard time. Thank you for helping Charlie Jr. as I prayed to you for help. You helped him survive this past year I know, because you always was so protective of your family and friends. I"ll never forget the songs we wrote together, the Saturday nights we sipped wine and listened to the Beatles, Dave Clark 5, the Kinks, Bob Dylan and all our favorite groups and artists. I will never forget our trips to the mountains every year and how much you loved being there. You were the kindest, gentlest soul and I'm sure you have a very special place in Heaven, because you were and remain an angel. Your best friend, Charlie

Thanks for pulling off the "Avengers" movie Jimmi. I remember how for years we always said they would make a zillion if they ever made an Avengers movie. I just wish you were here physically to watch it with me. Your spirit, however, is always with me. Your best friend, Charlie

Yo Webb,
I just saw Joey's entry about the new comic book movies coming out this year. You remember how we always said there should be a movie about Thor, Captain America the Mighty Avengers and especially the Green Lantern? Damn, I see you've been really pulling your weight up there. When they all come out, I'll be sure to go to the Webb Memorial Theatre (some still call it Showcase Cinema Lowell) and grab our old seats so we can watch it together and you can complain to me about all the things they should have done instead.
I miss you so much, the sadness of not sharing these moments together never lessens. Please say hello to your mom & dad as well as to my mom & Uncle Arthur for me.

Another year has passed and I still can't believe you're gone. It is supposed to be easier each year but it isn't. Playing my new Beatles CDs that I got for Christmas and missing you even more but I bet the band is much better there!

Yo Webbowski,
Just saw Ray Davies and remembered when we saw the Kinks for the first time in May 1970 at the old Commodore. Ray's still going strong! I'll miss you terribly again during the upcoming holiday season, just as I do every single day of the year. As always, I'll continue the crusade to wipe out white lights for Christmas!

Yo Webb,
Remember how we used to say how hard it was to believe that Uncle Arthur was gone a year, two years and each passing year? I'm so sad to have to say the same each year passes without having my best friend to share each passing year and each important moment. I miss you so much more than I could ever express.

Jimmi,
I just wanted to say Happy Easter and that I love you and I miss you. Also, I want to thank you for being such a loyal, true friend to my Dad (and to me). Hardly a day ever goes by when I don't think about you and feel so grateful to have had you in my life. Some of the greatest days of my life were spent with you and my Dad listening to music all night, going to see the movies, talking, laughing. Even though I miss you so much, it makes me happy to know that you are with your parents and Uncle Arthur in Heaven and that you are watching over the rest of us.
Your friend always,
Love Charlie Jr.

Yo Webb,
Just wanted you to know the Dave Clark 5 made the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Of course, you probably know that already from your seat in Heaven. I can't believe that on March 23 a full year will have passed since you left us physically. I miss you so much every single day and it hurts to know that we will not get to grow old together. Please say hello to your Dad, Mom and Uncle Arthur.

To My Main Dog,
You were not only my longest and best friend, you were a brother. I loved you so much and I can't imagine life without you. It will hurt when Spiderman 3 comes out and I have to go see it without you there. I'll send you my review. You always made the world a much better place and gave me light even in my darkest hours. If somebody wanted to describe loyalty and kindness in the dictionary all they would need was your picture. I hope you are with your mom, Uncle Arthur and that John and George play a special concert for you. I miss you so much and I hope you will keep your spirit with me.
Your best friend,
Charlie (Gargiulobonski)
P.S. You are right, white lights are not, were not and will never be for Christmas. Colored lights forever!!!
