Jay Worthen Obituary

Jay Henry Worthen
of Lowell; 61

LOWELL -- Jay Henry Worthen, 61, from Swansea, MA, passed away at home peacefully with his loved ones by his side on Monday, November 30, 2015.

For the past 35 years, he was the beloved husband of Kuk "Jionee" (Chae) Worthen.

Jay was the son of Barbara Phyllis (Southworth) Worthen of Swansea and the late Robert Elwell Worthen. He was born December 10, 1953, in Fall River. He graduated from Joseph Case High School, and later received an Associate's Degree in Computer Science from ITT Tech. He served with the United States Army specializing in Hawk Missiles at the sea range in Daecheon and the DSD 69 Base in Korea.

Jay was a gentle, kind, and loyal man, who made his family the center of his world. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He also loved music, going to concerts, and was a fan of the blues. Most of all, he was a humble man.

Jay worked for NCS in Billerica, MA. for ten years before becoming employed as a network administrator for Lowell General Hospital at the Saints Campus for 13 years.

Besides his wife, Jionee, he is survived by his children, Jessica A. Worthen and Nathan S. Worthen of Tewksbury, MA; his sisters, Janet Booker of Swansea, Judith Worthen of Little Compton, RI, and Joyce Worthen Kearns of Swansea, and many loved nieces and nephews.

We will be gathering together to celebrate a life well lived with Jay's close friends and family on Saturday, Dec. 12th at 11 AM at the Venus de Milo in Swansea, MA. Donations in his name may be made to the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund Tribute, One Harvard Street, Brookline, MA 02146.
