Robert McConnell, Jr., age 88, a longtime resident of
Woburn, Massachusetts, passed away into the arms of his Savior on December 23, 2025.
Born in
Fall River, Massachusetts, on June 28, 1937, he was the dear son of the late Robert McConnell, Sr. and Alice (Kelman) McConnell. Bob was raised and educated in Swansea, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of Case High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting in May of 1958 and receiving an honorable discharge in November of 1961.
Bob's faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of his life and was involved in various ministries over the course of life, including men's choir and the Board of Trustees. While attending church in Boston, Bob met a beautiful young lady, Frida Josi. What began as a strong friendship soon blossomed into a lifelong love. They were married on September 18, 1965, sharing more than 60 wonderful years together and raising a beautiful family. Bob and Frida made their home in Woburn, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Bob was deeply devoted to his family and cherished every moment spent together. Above all, Bob held his role as a husband most dear, carrying it with unwavering devotion and grace. Close behind was his cherished role as "Grandpa" or "Grampie" a source of boundless joy and deep meaning in his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family during the holidays and proudly attended his grandchildren's sporting events and special milestones. He loved to travel all over with family and was always ready to jump in the car-sometimes heading all the way to Maine just for a good cup of coffee. Along the way, he enjoyed chatting with truckers on CB radios, earning himself the nickname "Hapy Wonder".
A dedicated and hardworking man, Bob spent more than 30 years employed in the Maintenance Department of the United States Post Office. He will be fondly remembered for his outgoing nature, his appreciation for the simple things in life, and his generous spirit. Bob had a big heart and would do anything for anyone.
Bob was the beloved husband of Frida (Josi) McConnell; devoted father of Robin Gadue and her husband Robert of Dracut, Karen McConnell of Woburn, and Henry McConnell and his wife Marcela of Wilmington; loving grandfather of Ashley, Jason, Keilah, and Aiden; and dear brother of Priscilla McConnell of Dracut.
All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service celebrating Bob's life on Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Bible Church, 11 Ermer Road, Salem, New Hampshire.
