Karlena MacKenzie Obituary
Loving mother, daughter, sister,
granddaughter, and aunt
WALTHAM -- Karlena A. MacKenzie, age 29, died unexpectedly Sunday, at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
She was born in Winchester, July 23, 1983, the daughter of John MacKenzie of Billerica and the late Jessie (Chisholm) MacKenzie, and was raised in Billerica and most recently lived in Waltham.
Miss MacKenzie was employed as a Store Clerk at Jim's Quick Stop in Billerica, and was a certified EMT, Hairdresser and Nursing Assistant.
Besides her father, Miss. MacKenzie is survived by her daughter, Ashlynn Record of Waltham; her brothers, Darrell MacKenzie and his wife, Amy of Townsend, and Kirk MacKenzie and his wife, Brenda of Billerica; her nieces and nephews, Evan and Alex MacKenzie, RJ Fieler, Alyssa, Keira and Liana MacKenzie; her paternal grandmother, Catherine MacKenzie of Canada; and her loving companion, Scott McCauley.
MacKenzie -- Of Waltham, formerly of Billerica, unexpectedly, Dec. 16, 2012, Karlena A. MacKenzie. A celebration of life will be held Saturday at the Billerica Country Club, 51 Baldwin Rd., Billerica from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashlynn Record Scholarship Fund, c/o Enterprise Bank, 223 Boston Rd., N. Billerica, MA 01862 Attn: Joy Harmer.

You were without a doubt one of a kind. We've had some amazing times starting with when you first walked into our EMT course and we first became friends. You made some incredibly close friendships in that class. Upon completion, you came back as a teaching assistant to pay it forward to many new students. Now I know you will never know how important you were in the lives of those students. An amazing woman, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, girlfriend, friend, you were a bright and shining star that simply burnt out way too soon. You've left a mark upon this world and in many hearts. We will miss you more than words can explain and will not forget the presence that you were in your time with us.

We are very sorry for the loss of Karlena. We are friends of Kirk and Brenda's and whenever we saw her she was always smiling. Her daughter, Ashlynn, attended the same dance school with my girls and she too seems to take after her Mother with a smile always planted on her face. We are thinking of the entire family and send our thoughts and prayers.

I haven't written anything since I've heard of Karleena passing. I've only known her for 4 years but we were great friends. I still can't believe that she's gone, I just can't. Last time I saw her she was here at my house getting purple hair from my Wife, she was so happy that day, she was excited to be going to get Ash and to see Scott and show off her new hair. You will always have a place in my heart as well as Ash. I know that you are at peace and are hanging out with your Mom. I'm going to miss you so much, you will be missed by so many because everyone who met you, became a friend of yours immediately! Please look over my Family while you are looking over yours you beautiful angel!!!
