Kathleen DuCom Obituary

formerly of Tewksbury

Casa Grande, AZ

Kathy 62, ( Loving Wife, Mother and Gram) was born in Concord, MA on March 19,1958 to Charles and Mary (Murray) Sawyer. She was raised in Chelmsford, MA and graduated from Chelmsford High School Class of 1976. After Kathy got married, she moved to Tewksbury, MA where she raised her family. She was active for many years in the St. Williams CCD program as well as the church as a Eucharistic Minister. Her Catholic Faith was extremely important to her. Kathy worked for many years at Lowell General Hospital in the Emergency Room, Ambulatory Care Unit and Endoscopy Unit. Taking care of people was her love and passion.

In August of 2008 Kathy and her husband relocated to Casa Grande, AZ. She wanted to live where the winter weather was nice. She always said this was her forever home. She loved being in Arizona. She acclimated to the climate perfectly. She would sit and read in her backyard, poolside, for hours. She loved to travel in Arizona seeing all the beautiful places the state has to offer.

Kathy loved to travel with her husband to see family and friends. She was able to visit many places in the United States as well as abroad. One of her favorite trips was her 2018 trip to Rome Italy with dear friends Deirdre and Kevin Chelius of Franklin, WI. She was able to go to St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and Vatican Square. She was able to check that of her bucket list. For the last several years Kathy would travel with her husband and dear friends Susan and Larry Boyko of Pelham, NH to MLB ballparks. She loved to see the Red Sox play. She loved sports especially baseball and football. She was an avid follower of the Red Sox, NE Patriots and her new home team the Arizona Cardinals, even becoming a season ticket member.

Prior to her passing she was employed by Maricopa County as an RN. She worked in downtown Phoenix at the 4th Ave Jail. It was a different role but one that she loved. She loved the people she worked with and the environment that she was in.

Kathy is survived by her husband David of Casa Grande, AZ. Children Timothy Bowden of Malden, MA, Lisa Smith and her husband Mark of Methuen, MA, Ryan DuCom of Lowell, MA, Meredith Bowden of Tewksbury, MA and Justin DuCom and his wife Ashley of Dracut, MA. Her Loving Grandchildren Sadie, Sebastian, Dylan, Daniel, Hunter, Addison, Joey, Ben and Emmalee. She is also survived by her Father-in-Law Eugene DuCom and Brother and Sister-in-Law Robert and Lara Kolb of Manning, SC. and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral service or burial. Kathy's wish was to have a celebration of life get together. That will take place in the future.
