Kenneth Rabb Obituary

Kenneth Charles Rabb "Kenny" ELLERBE - Kenneth "Kenny" Charles Rabb of Ellerbe, extraordinary father, son and friend passed away Feb. 26, 2014, at the age of 54. Kenny was born in Kannapolis Dec. 7, 1959, to Charles and Joann Rabb and grew up in Charlotte attending South Mecklenburg High School. He went on to receive a degree from NC State University in marketing and business. Kenny moved to Durham to pursue a career in public relations. After raising his son Brandon, building an impressive resume and receiving many professional accolades he moved to Ellerbe in 2008 and opened his own public relations firm "The Brand". His greatest love was being a hunting guide and marketing director for The Webb Farm Quail Grounds and Lodge. Kenny never knew a stranger. His instant smile, easy going manner and generous spirit put everyone at ease and endeared him to all who crossed his path. He was a master storyteller, entertaining and funny, bringing laughter and light wherever he went. He is survived by his son Brandon and wife Sarah; parents Charlie and Joann Rabb; brother Donald Rabb and wife Leslie; nephews David and Dean; Ken's daughter of the heart Maggie Becker; and hundreds of family and friends who will miss him dearly. A celebration of Kenny's life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 4 p.m. at Jones Springs United Methodist Church, 1506 Jones Springs Church Rd, Ellerbe NC with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity or one of the following are appreciated: Reid Heart Center, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or Derby Volunteer Fire Department, 2179 Derby Road, Ellerbe, NC 28338.

It is so hard to believe that Kenny is gone. Although we were not close, we remained in touch, and I will always treasure our lunch we had a few years ago. He came to Raleigh on business, and we had so much fun talking about our children, life, and the memories of high school. No man loved his son more than Kenny did. Rest in peace my friend, and I look forward to the day where we can talk and laugh again.

We get so busy we forget our neighbors. Charlotte and I offer our prayers in this tragic loss. "He never met a stranger". God knows this.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Kenny, his family, and friends... "And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."

Ken and I went to school together from third grade through high school. Though we seldom got together after that, he was the first person to speak to me and shake my hand when I arrived at our most recent high school reunion. He was one of the most thoroughly decent guys I've ever known, and I still can't believe he's gone.

It was an honor to know Ken. He made everybody smile as he did on our last hunt together on President's Day. Ken made it special for me and my son with such support and laughter. We will miss you Ken and thank you for making our lives brighter!

You were the person I went to when terrible things happened…. Although I am feeling lost and confused I know you are still with me in my heart, still there to listen and help pull me through. You pray for me dear Ken as I am praying for you.

"O Lord, glorify his station, shelter him under the pavilion of they supreme mercy, cause him to enter Thy glorious paradise, and perpetuate his existence in Thine exalted rose garden, that he may plunge into the sea of light in the world of mysteries. Verily, Thou art the Generous, the Powerful, the Forgiver and Bestower." -Baha'i Prayer

Kenny and I talked or texted each other frequently and seen one another often at the hunting club. I took me several days to accept that he was gone and I will miss him . I went down Friday to see Brandon, Donny and the rest of the family, we set around and talked about passed times. God speed my brother, we will see each other again.

My family's heart is breaking for all of you, but please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your family has always been so precious to ours and there are no right words to say to console you at this time, but you are certainly close to our hearts each day. The obituary could not have been any more complimentary of the wonderful life he had with his family and friends. Much love to all. Kim and Tommy Cook and family, and B.J. Kincaid

I am blessed with many happy memories from the entire Rabb family during my childhood and adolescent years in Charlotte. Olde Providence Elementary, beach trips, Scouts, Windyrush, 9526. Kenny was certainly part of those memories. From those who knew Kenny, these memories cannot be replaced and yet cannot be taken away.
